With the new coach at Richmond, how much improvement do you think we will see especially early on in the season?

We should see some improvement coach Brad calling the O the o line has some size tall fast shifty recievers I believe marcus rush's son has a chance to be special at running back. The non conference games will be brutal the defense is working hard.

Agreed. Non conference will be treacherous. They can win the conference, though. If they win one game in non conference, that’s a positive.

Believe the qb will take a step forward this year and yes we can win the conference but of course the patriots and the scots will have something to say about that we shall see.

RC has a big hill to climb. Their returning QB should be better but his numbers last year were not good. His completion percentage was below 60 and he had more picks than TD. He averaged less than 3 yards a carry running the ball. I am not hating on him but with RC schedule he will have a hard time getting comfortable and gaining confidence. RC is returning a lot of defensive player but that doesn’t always mean they will be a lot better. I hope it does. They gave up 26 points per game last year and 16 per game in a conference that only had 3 winning teams. PC and SC return a lot of nice pieces so the conference will be competitive. If anyone knows what old RC football looks like, Brad does but it will probably take him a few years.

If the families don’t relocate in the next several years, there’s talent coming. Just have to weather some lean years in the beginning of the Denson era.

I agree on the QB. Showed some flashes but never put it together. A year under his belt and Jay Jones returning as QB coach should help.

Gonna be some sad and eventually mad raider fans this year...Talent level the same as it has been the last two years. Don't see where the upgrade is on the coaching staff. Lots of fans asked for it,now he has to win. No excuses..

As we all know Richmond has a new coach and fans have a range of expectations. Richmond's history, community culture, and previous coach's performance has been huge through out the years, so there's going to be big shoes to fill. Out the gate, fans expect the new coach to improve Richmond's performance on the field, a winning record and success in the playoffs. With Richmond having a rich football tradition, I can imagine the fans expecting the coach to respect and continue these traditions while also bringing new ideas and strategies.

I sure you Richmond fans that your HC will adapt to different game situations, employing effective strategies and making smart decisions during games.

There's no doubt Richmond's HC can balance winning with creating a positive and enriching environment for student-athletes. Good luck.....

Boy those Richmond fans aren’t saying anything this summer
Are you kidding me? It's like talking to a bunch of mute clams! I swear, getting them to open up is like pulling teeth. You ask about the game and it's crickets all around! These Richmond Fans must have gone on a spirit quest or something.

Most people stopped posting because of all the BS post on here. Also it's 7-7 not much to talk about. They had good plays at times and no so good plays at times.

Richmond used to be a football crazy county but not anymore. Quality of football talent there has bottomed out tremendously. The new coach with all his head coaching experience should fix that right? But that’s another issue entirely. Richmond’s program has fallen.

Talent at the HS is lacking. There’s a lull in RC right now, which was never the case before these last few years.

But talent is coming up through the middle schools. Similar to the talent that came up from 2017-2020.

Is the population in Richmond County decreasing? Will they be moving down in classification?
Without having accurate numbers to refer to I would say the population has dropped due to rural economy being down. As far as a drop in classification I don’t know where the cutoff line is. Richmond is 10-12 grade. If the ninth grade academy numbers count I don’t see a drop in classification.

9th grade counts and a freshman academy is being built at the high school to house freshmen. Maybe in the next 1-2 years.

Population is dropping some but issue is talent, brand recogniton and more competition. Alot of Fayetteville/Cumberland, and Richmond County talent ends up in Charlotte and Cabarrus County. Then many alumni live in Mecklenburg and they have children that can play ball but play in Meck Co. Years past they those guys are die hard Raiders. The RC brand doesn't sell or impress like it used to.

Brad Denson has been on staff previously so he's not new. While many fans wanted him a large segment of the fan base wanted an experienced HC. To me. Just me. RC should have went with Eric Morman or Patrick Hope. Think admin underestimated a large segment of their fan base.

It’s not a sharp decline, but a slow decline. Big Dad made a great point. If you look closely, there are lineages from RC that have now gone to more populous areas and there is nothing, and I mean nothing, drawing people to or back to RC.

I know people from RC and it’s not the same RC from the 1990s and before with the mills keeping people there with good jobs. You go where opportunity is.

I will say this... We was very young last year with a coach that was ready to move on. ALL THE TEAMS IN OUR CONFERENCE would have went 0-4 last year. We only lost 1 confidence game.
Make no mistake. A great majority of the teams in the state would love to be in RC position in 2024. Take away 71st, Butler, CG, and MP and replace with mid tier to low level comp RC is looking at 11-2 type season last year. They beat a good Scotland team too. They have same sked this year and will get similar results even though they could be better. Gotta lighten the sked a bunch and just get wins/momentum

Well that tough early schedule will make you a much better team later in the year … much better than playing a powder puff early schedule

Nah. Disagree. That sked was a losing season. Confidence and momentum means alot. That tough sked got them blanked at Leesville
