"And so as we think about really less 3-3-5 – we were kind of a hybrid last year of we could be 3-4, we could be 3-3-5 or we could go to four-down and rush – I think McCullough gives you someone who can play in all three of these packages, right?" the head coach said.
A 3-4 look with MaGahee, Trent, V9 and McCullough at LB would not displease me.

When Nebraska was great we did a few things at an extremely high level. I'm leery of "multiple" looks. Different packages, ok, but pick your base philosophy and master it. I think 3-4 should be base.

Don’t think it matters much as every defense is running a 4-2-5 80% of the time. I would be more concerned about having the right personnel on situational downs i.e pass rushers or run stuffers.

I don't interpret this from the quote. Please elaborate if you can.
I'll try. seems like rhule thinks it;s ok to point to top players and what they can do in an interview. yet rules out letting the players show their ability in a spring game for fear teams will attempt to lure them away via the transfer portal.

This is an interesting take and I'm going to agree with you.

College football has advanced far beyond the triple option and the 4-3 that we were great at. So has technology on "espionage" of opponents' trends.

This probably won’t be a popular take, but it’s got some merit. I said all along… Don’t televise the spring game, shorten it and water down your reps. 1-2 series per player tops. Then, of course, call the game as vanilla as possible on both sides of the ball. (Don’t need to publicly announce that you’re shortening the game and limiting players to 2 or less series, just do it) Problem solved.

Opposing teams have to work harder and spend more resources to scout your spring game. Can’t just watch it on TV, and they won’t glean much of anything anyway from 1 or 2 series per player. And lastly, fans and local businesses get their spring game.

Tell me what’s wrong with this plan?

Jesus, you think another coach is going after a player based on what his head coach says in a press conference when asked?

There's only one V at linebacker and isn't his number 9?
He is #1
