I'm just wondering if anyone else is starting to get concerned about Miss Kelly's health and availability to play at the level she played last year due to her injuries? She is needed, we are young and she has lots of game experience and she is a very good player. She got hurt late in the year last year but when she played she came back she didn't play as well coming back as she did before she was injured. Does anyone know if she is battling the same injury as last year or is there a different injury now.

Do not know but this team really miss's her being 100%.

Hard to play your best when you have to ride the bike when not in the game.

She made reference in a preseason interview about focusing on protecting her knees in teh off season. So from that I assume her minutes restriction is related to her knee(s).

I kind of find it odd that both BT and RK are not at 100% before the season even started. I am trying to figure out how did they get injured, lifting weights, running, practice or what. I never heard of a player getting hurt before the season starts if they did not get hurt after the season ended the year before. This is strange to me.

Reniya's knee problem if that is what it is and has persisted since last season could be chronic.

I hope not but it might be more than she will be 100% in a couple of weeks.

This is one of the reasons why CB brought in E. She said she cant ask Reniya to play 33-35 minutes. That’s too much and she said it’s too much mentally to play the 1 for that many minutes.

Elina 28 min at PG
Reniya 12 min at PG 16 at 2G
Lanie 24 min at 2G

This is how I thought the min's would divide out in a big game. If RK is not 100% we might need
someone else that can play PG if needed. Nyla B or Taliyah Henderson either could do well at 2G JMO

Apparently that person does not know correct English. Ms or Miss refers to an adult that is not married for any female. That was the correct usage according to European English / American English grammar. That is petty to comment on that. We all make mistakes on this board with grammar. No one is perfect. This is what makes us a human being.

She's an adult, so she's not "Miss" Kelly. Pretty disrespectful if you ask me.
It is odd that we in modern society still choose to label women based on whether they are married or not. Not a fan of that rule.

with that said, “miss” has nothing to do with age/maturity and is not demeaning. Kelly is not married (to my knowledge) so “miss” is accurate and is still widely considered to be appropriate, even though I personally do not use it.

the only time I have seen miss used in a demeaning way is when in the Jim Crow south it was used to applied to all women of color at their job. And it was applied with their first name. Like for example all in home maids were “miss Susan” or “miss Francis.” And it was intended to be infantilizing; to purposefully not extend respect from one adult to another.

but that in no way applies here.

I am just saying, I am tired of seeing things like "I watched the girls game" or "nice to see our girls team win" or "Lady Tar Heels" or any more of those demeaning terms. These are grown women, and deserving of our respect.

I'm going all in. This is as stupid as stupid get. Absolutely NOTHING demeaning in any of the terms you just mention. I will guarantee not 1 female Tar Heel basketball player is complaining about this. I assume you want the WNBA to be call NBA also. Seeing the acronym WBB must also infuriate you to no end. Maybe we should all be the same gender with do distinction. If only we could be born with the same genitals what a wonderful world it would be. I'm so thankful the women in my life haven't gotten to this point and are EXTREMELY proud to be strong women (mothers and daughters) and don't indulge in this kind of BS

Hey, youre missing the point here. The WNBA and WBB are just fine, because they are WOMEN. What I object to is using the terms "girls" or "Lady", thats demeaning. We should be using "women", thats all, when describing womens basketball. Not girls. Not "lady"

You sure went "all in".....on missing the point altogether.

Who is stupid now?

i do think it's noteworthy that you'd never find somebody on the men's boards referring to a player as "Mr. Trimble" or whoever. imo there is a hint of infantilization going on with such demarcations.

I'm part of the problem too I guess. This is just so ridiculous. The people on this board have nothing but affection for these players. Again, just WOW. Some people get offended over the smallest of things and if they have nothing they will make something up.
It's actually not all that hard. Girls basketball is middle and high school. Womens is college and above. Maybe simple things are tough for you?

Showing respect to our players should not be a political argument
Not linking it to politics but attitudes and respect posters show each other. Especially those trying to assert their assumed mental superiority by veiled insults to other posters.

How are we supposed to differentiate between the men and the women?

Lady is actually considered to be a respectful way to refer to a woman.

Girls I somewhat get but you can’t rail against both terms.

Context clues. As an example, we are on the WBB board. Safe to assume we are talking about the women’s team here.

UNC and the vast majority of schools officially dropped the ”Lady” term for their women’s sports teams a decade or more ago. All our teams are now just Tar Heels.

It’s actually considered a condescending way to refer to a woman, which is why our school along with many others dropped the “Lady” moniker years ago.

this is not advanced stuff here folks. MBB= men’s basketball, WBB= women’s basketball, not girls ladies or whatever else you want to call them

I thought we had finish talking about this. People are going to do and say what they want. I do not see why we are spending a lot of time and energy on a topic where some people are not going to change how they refer to women. Unfortunately this is not only a sports thing but this is a society thing to be honest. When you have politicians disrespecting women this is a trickle down affect coming from our country.

I am surprise that you misunderstood what I was saying. That is what I was saying that people are going to do what they want to do and say what they want to say so why worry about it that is what I was saying in laymen terms. So with that in mind, then why are people making a fuss when people uses the terms girls, etc. A women is still a girl. They were a girl first before they became a women. Let just move on to something else. That is what I was referring too. This is petty stuff IMO.
