Looking at both your schedule and the Hawks, who do you think your toughest games will be.

Huskers ( in order of toughest)
Ohio State (think your defense can keep you in the game)
Michigan (low scoring game)
Hawkeyes ( always a close game)
Wisconsin (get ahead and they have no offense)
Minnesota (see below)
Purdue (Bell the only threat)

Hawks
Penn State ( have no idea, but always a good game)
Huskers (always a close game and your defense is very good)
Wisconsin (Mertz may be out and their TE got hurt)
Purdue ( we struggle with them, Bell has killed us the last two games)
Minnesota (screw the rowers)
Northwestern (same as Purdue)
IL (going no where)

Great game last night. Nice to see fewer mistakes. Love to see us both win out and have a great game!

Iowa looks awesome this year. My best friend is an Iowa fan, and I am happy for you. Good luck the rest of the way.

As for us, we have a good defense, but last night was the first time our offense showed up in a big way and that our special teams weren’t awful. It was at least a big step forward.

We get Michigan next week undefeated at home, at night. I would put Iowa #2 on the list, Michigan #3. Against Ohio State I'm hoping our offense keeps us in the game (see Oregon/tOSU).
After last night I'm somewhat optimistic about getting to .500, but we beat Maryland in a similar fashion in 2019 while going 1-5 in the second half. At least Frost is somewhat measured about what happened against NW. Going to be interesting.

Iowa vs PSU will tell the story the rest of this Big Ten season. Iowa will be the best team PSU has played so far this season and vise versa.

Both are damn good on defense. PSU might have more of a big play striking capability and neither are dominant in the run game.

I would rather have Iowa's schedule, if for no other reason than to get another crack at Illinois. But I see 3 games on our schedule we should win. If we do that and steal one more, that would be pretty good.

You should win 5 of your remaining games, and hey, let's be honest, Nebraska probably still belongs in that category at this point -- one good game does not a turnaround make -- so make it 6. So really, the Ohio State game will likely be the difference between a great season and an amazing season for Iowa.

Auburn is better than Iowa in my opinion. Much more of a balanced attack.

As far as Iowa remaining schedule, you never know what games they will win as everyone in the B1G west takes their rivalry games 100x more serious than Nebraska does. Nebraska still doesnt care about all that crap. Iowa as long as they have a trophy case full of rivalry trophies, they dont care about division, conference or national titles as they dont have but a few of them in their history.

Not trying to bash Iowa but this is truth and something I have always hated Iowa fans for.

No, your not even close to what you think about Iowa, if you think they don't care about winning the division or winning national titles. In fact, I would bet there are very few schools in the country that would think that way. LOL About the trophy games, me personally, I could care less about them, however if the BiG thinks they are important so be it. Besides, if you have ZERO trophies in your case in the BiG, you most likely are not going to be division champs and even bowl eligible. LOL

Thank you for the info. It's very nice to learn that neither are smashmouth steam rollers. That helps my desire A LOT to see the Huskers play the big boys!

Nebraska could still win 3 so called Trophy games and still not win the division by beating Minnesota ( 5 bits of broken chair) Wisconsin ( Freedom Trophy) Ioway ( Heroes Trophy)

So what’s Ioway use them for if they don’t win the division…

Door stops I guess..

I would rate our games as follows:
Ohio State. A probable loss
Michigan. I give Michigan a slight edge. Another loss. But it will be close and we have a good chance of beating them.
Iowa: Tough defense and always close. But it is in Lincoln. A lot depends on how much is riding on this game. If Nebraska needs to beat Iowa to gain bowl eligibility or even to win the West, we will be motivated. Toss up game.
Wisconsin: They have our number and it is in Madison. Toss up.
Minnesota: We will win this game. A game we MUST win to gain bowl eligibility.
Purdue: We will win. In Lincoln and it is a team we MUST beat to get to bowl eligibility.

Looking at that breakdown we have what looks like 5 wins at least. We need to win only one of the closer matchups against Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin. We blew out NW and all of our losses have been close. We clearly look like a much better team than in the past six years. Was the NW blowout indicative of how good we are, or how bad NW is? Who knows? But we sure looked damn impressive last night. Prediction: We lose to Michigan and Ohio State but beat Wisconsin on the road and Iowa at home. We end 7-5. Iowa wins the West despite their loss to us, since Iowa, once again, draws the easier crossover schedule.

Beating Wisconsin would be my mulligan for giving the Illini and Sparty game away on a silver platter..

As of today beating the Badgers will be easier that beating the Gophers which we need to win both..

same gophers that lost at home as a 31-point favorite against a MAC school?

I expect that one to look a lot like last night, and hope we run up the score even worse on that bald goon fleck

If Nebraska beats Michigan they will likely become a ranked team or at least getting votes and should be favored over every team left on the schedule besides Iowa and Ohio State. That's based on how things are today.

Michigan opens a 1 point favorite against Nebraska.

This. Crap, we finally put together an impressive win against a crap team and all of a sudden people think we are good enough to just take teams like Minny to the woodshed. Given our history over the past few years I don't view any game as a gimme. Minnesota will play us tough.

in the past few years, we have beaten a similarly inept minn team 53-28

I don't put a whole lot of stock into yesterday, and me saying we'll blow out mn has a lot more to do with them than us. they stink

Minnesota is better than Illinois and NW and don’t see a whole lot of difference between them and Sparty except for the fact Sparty has better Special teams..

and the fact that sparty didn't lose to a middle of the road MAC team at home, 2 weeks after eeking out a 5-point win over a middle of the road MAC team

and the fact sparty still has their best player

I don't understand the need for trophy games, however someone decided that if you win certain games, you get a trophy, and it's better to have the trophy which means you won the game. LOL I don't think playing for a trophy changes how Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota or any team plays, they all want to win the game. In conclusion, if you have trophy games, and you want to win your division, you have to win the trophies along the way. LOL But your correct scarletred, unless you win them all, they just become door stops or paper weights. ;)

If we could play as well as we did last night I'd feel pretty confident saying we'll handle Minnesota. Unfortunately I don't quite trust Nebraska to play solid ball consistently, it's all been wait and see..

Iowa at Iowa State. Iowa at Nebraska. Both streaks for the Hawkeyes actually started on the road.

Something to watch.

Iowa finished 2019 strong. Pandemic didn't help QB Spencer Petras in 2020 and his 30 days of covid-19 jail apparently aided Iowa's 0-2 start last year.

Penn State and Michigan are two interesting games ahead this week. Do the home teams each get another B1G win?

Even if we win, we have too many losses that we won’t crack the Top 25. I agree we would probably get some votes.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend to see which Husker Offense shows up. Hopefully the one that we saw last Saturday and that would make a great matchup of two Blue Blood Programs!

I look at it like this. Nebraska has shown how bad they can be and how good they can be. Now its going to be like a box of chocolates, never know what you are going to get until the game is over. I honestly believe we could lose to Michigan by 30 or beat them by 30.

I agree. Right now we just do not know how good or how bad Nebraska will be on any given Saturday. Right now I think Nebraska is one of the riskier teams to bet on for that reason.

I actually disagree with some of the 'not sure what you will get' talk. The defense has now been consistent for 4 games in a row. That isn't going to change. It's going to be up the offense to come and play good football.

So overall you really dont know what you are going to get team wise. It doesnt really matter how great the defense is if the offensive line and kickers can't get their **** together. We know the defense is solid and consistent. We do know now how good the team overall can be and can't be. Until they play a few complete games in a row, you dont really know what you are going to get. You cant tell me the next time Culp or a punter takes the field you arent going to hold your breath and be surprised if they shank a punt or miss a PAT. Hell listen to how the crowd responds when they do their job right anymore. You would think they just made the winning kick on a PAT in tye 1st quarter.

I think you like to disagree just to see your screen name on a thread.

iowa is not as good as their ranking indicates. barring injury, we're beating them this year.

the maryland win isn't as impressive as the Northwestern win. neither of those teams are very good, but Fitzgerald is undoubtedly the better coach.
