unbeaten Amherst claims region top seed with a win over Heritage in Seminole championship Friday...but all the tourneys need to be completed as regular-season & tourney winner grabs highest seed, then overall record/top winning pct used to break tie among Amherst, Spotswood and Alleghany. Others still in the mix: TA and Waynesboro are in from Valley; Jefferson Forest or Brookville from the Seminole consolation, and Byrd, Rockbridge or Staunton River from the Blue Ridge.

Re: Region III shaping up ... but

Since the Blue Ridge has to wrap up one semifinal, the consolation and championship games ALL today, exact Region pairings won't be known until late. Also, the Seminole consolation & title games are this evening.
However,
Amherst (20-0), Spotswood (16-3) and Alleghany (17-4) all own the top three seeds with their district tourney championship outcomes deciding 1-2-3 along with the #4 seed all will have home games on Tuesday. Monday's play-in game (#9 seed at #8) is quite muddled still as are the rest. Battling for seeds 4-6 are: Turner Ashby (16-4), William Byrd (14-8) and Rockbridge (7-11). A Jefferson Forest (15-5) win vs. Brookville (8-10) gives the Cavs #7 seed. Waynesboro (14-8) appears to be 8th pending the other outcomes. Despite a losing record, Heritage (10-12) will land somewhere seeded 4-6.
William Byrd (13-7) , Staunton River (13-9) and Rockbridge (7-11) are still alive for a spot.
The semis and championship are supposed to be at Jefferson Forest's Jim Thacker Field, just named in honor of the long-time coach In his final season with the Cavs. Can they survive a tough road game to get there?

Region 3 Bracket is set!

**EDITED- Originally, I heard Waynesboro would be the 7 seed and Staunton River the 8, but it appears that those to will switch. Haven't heard officially yet, but that's what it is looking like. Seeds 1-6 and #9 are set, 7 and 8 as of now look to be 7-SR, 8-WHS, but it could change again. DiamondDude and myself will try to keep you updated.

1. Amherst County- an impressive 21-0 record, the Seminole Regular Season and Tournament Champs tonight with a win over surprising 6-seed Heritage (Lynchburg).
2. Spotswood- coming in with a 17-3 record, the Valley District Regular Season and Tournament Champs tonight with a win over hard-hitting Turner Ashby.
3. Alleghany- they are the Blue Ridge District Regular Season Champs and with a 17-5 record after falling in their district title game tonight to William Byrd.
4. William Byrd- The Terriers shocked Alleghany tonight winning 8-2 in the Blue Ridge District championship game and improved to 15-9 overall.
5. Turner Ashby- the Knights are 17-5, with three of those 5 losses coming to Spotswood. They can hit the ball hard and should they upset WB, will pose a threat to Amherst.
6. Heritage (Lynchburg)- The Pioneers at 10-13 shocked the Seminole District by advancing to the Tournament Championship game before falling to Amherst, but not before claiming a Region 3 Tournament bid.
7. Staunton River- SRHS fell to Alleghany in the Blue Ridge Semi's but knocked off Rockbridge in the consolation game to secure the final Region 3 Berth tonight to improve to 14-9 overall.
8. Waynesboro- The Little Giants at 14-8 knocked off Broadway in a
thrilling Consolation game last night. Originally thought WHS would travel to Spotswood, but after a closer look, it appears they will be hosting Brookville in the opening round.
9. Brookville- the Bees topped Seminole District 2-seed Jefferson Forest 8-4 tonight and improved their record to 9-10.

So here's the schedule:
Monday, May 27
Brookville @ Waynesboro

Tuesday, May 28
Brookville/Waynesboro winner @ Amherst County
Staunton River @ Spotswood
Heritage (Lynchburg) @ Alleghany
Turner Ashby @ William Byrd

Thursday, May 30
Semifinals @ Jefferson Forest

Friday, May 31
Championship Game @ Jefferson Forest*

*-unless two teams playing from same district, then site could be changed

Re: Region 3 Bracket is set!

Not official over here yet, assumed it was based on winning percentages and WHS would hold that advantage, however I can definitely see a conflict of interest since it's only a half game lead. Please post if you hear something!

Re: Region 3 Bracket is set!

What you have here is correct,,,Waynesboro and Staunton River each had 14-9 records and each was seeded 4th in their tourneys so it went to further tiebreaker. W'boro was tied for 3rd in the Valley regular season causing the confusion in Region policy (wasn't quite clear). But WHS took 8th.
