Keep your heads held high Red Raiders. We were two plays away from having a 3-1 record. A couple unlucky breaks this year. Those unlucky breaks will not define great tradition nor will it define the rest of this season. Last I checked we are still undefeated, untied, and unscored upon in conference play. All the games that mean something are ahead of us. Teams like Lincolnton and Clover’s optimism is only attributable to the eternal verity that even a blind pig occasionally finds an acorn. Screw them. Everything I've seen suggests there will be a resurgence of Red Raider glory. The rest of the conference will be our doormats and we will find our traditional glory when it matters. I'll close by paraphrasing my life long friend, the one and only Cheerduck. “It's not how you start, but rather, how you finish that matters”. Go Big Red!!!!

Go Big Red! Well said! We should still run the table in our cupcake conference but we better use that run to get better for the playoffs or we will suffer. All these other chest thumpers out there, I would like to see their record right now if they played the schedule SP has. 1-3 is not to be proud of but considering who we played, it is not a bad warm up to what really matters down the road. Gaining experience and that is what counts.

EasyRaider, redraider73,coondog, Raiders should can run the conference, but they will have to improve as the season goes on. As 73 said. No chance to win in playoffs without getting better on offense, defense has played well.I have watched alot of Raider football. They are capable of doing really well. We will see how they respond now.

I have watched Raider ball since I was a kid and don't miss a game. I played and my dad played. My cousins played. Just hate seeing the Raiders go down this road with how it's going. At least give the back up QB a chance. Only reason he is Qb bc daddy is the coach.

Bit of free advice...let coaches who have spent countless hours evaluating these young men make decisions and you continue to buy your $7 ticket and climb your tail to the top of Lineberger stadium. Can't believe there's so many of you SP fans laying the struggles of the offense at the feet of one kid, that's why you'll continue to pay your $7 and climb. I'm not a SP fan, but I do know they lost 9 of 11 starters last year...with their offense it's going to take time for that group to gel. So reach on up in there grab your panties and pull them out of that wad you have them in.

He is doing his best but you got a back up QB that has worked his butt off and is ready to step up and the coaches aren't letting him do that bc it's the coaches Son. I'm just pointing out the facts.

It is one thing for posters to speak in general terms about weaknesses in certain parts of game, but calling the QB and the coaches out for something that you only believe is the case is not kosher, coondog.

I don't know where you buy your tickets but all the games are $6. Either you math is no better than your comments or you are getting ripped off.

Apologies for my ignorance. Buy your $6 ticket and go sit in the stands. As I sit and watch on Fridays I can only assume coaches have a better knowledge of the game then I do. Especially a staff like they have at South Point. Just find it a little bit ridiculous that some of you South Point posters talk out of both sides of your mouth. You praise the coaching staff, say QB is the only issue, and say if it was changed you'd be a state championship caliber team. These things don't add up. I'll say again they return 2 of 11 offensive starters, this has a lot to do with it. I'm all for praising kids on forums such as this, but singling out HIGH SCHOOL athletes for the failures of your team is wrong. There was nothing but praise after the Crest win, but since the raiders have faced some adversity you guys are placing blame on one kid for a team that was two plays away from being 3-1. At the very least you have the most successful coaching staff in the area, yet you now doubt them.

Change play calling? You are absolutely delusional now. They've ran the same thing for the last 15 years with plenty of success. Outside/Inside Veer, midline, counter, trap and a few passes. What in the world is wrong with the play calling? Sometimes teams are just better then you, and guess what it's OK...it doesn't mean changes need to be made. So are we now not blaming the QB and instead blaming a coach because he's running the same plays he's always ran?

Switch it up to what Coondog? You want them to go 5 wide and start slinging it? You're the expert here, I truly want your opinion on what you'd do differently. You know more then coaches with state rings and enough to know you'd want to bench the starting QB. I don't like SP, but I respect the heck out of them for what they've done.

Please explain, I like what we do just throw it when you don't have to.

Do you know more then Mickey, Tate, Lee, Andrews, Hodge, Shepard and Company? No chance.

Yes I know all of them very well.
Whats up Coondog8585, I know this post may be difficult to read for someone on a first grade reading level such as yourself however please do your best to comprehend the highlights. For you to have the audacity to doubt a coaching staff with a record as great as South Point, is ridiculous and appalling and proves that you are not only an a*shole but a stupid a*shole. If you actually would have watched JV football last year you would've seen that Scottie was the only bright spot on an otherwise dismal offense. If you remember in 2014 the Red Raiders started with a record of 1-3 and ended up making it to the state semifinals losing to the eventual state champion Crest Chargers. Its repulsive that after 4 games against solid competition which includes two state championship teams and a state championship contender in Lincolnton that you would already jump ship. So Coondog I ask you to please either don't doubt the system or don't bring your a*s to football games where you only bring down the team. Go Big Red.

Wow I go to every game. What does the jv have to do with this years team. We have a Qb that should be playing not Scottie.

I think what Coonie is trying to say is yes the coaching staff is good, very good. They also know it and are extremely confident maybe even too conifident. They may be so confident that they believe they can play favoritism at certain positions and coach them out of the obvious lack of talent. That doesn't mean that they're not good but temporarily delusional. I don't disagree with that part of what he said but I probably would say the names. With that said I don't possess the kind of communist thought process that would fit in with the North Koreans. Hell coonie say what you want you were born American. Or don't and remember to give every softy a trophy and pat on the butt.

Look we have a Cramer fan on here. Cramer thinks they have a chance but you won't even score this year either.

Sorry I opened up the gates on you Coondog, just think you have to look at this in a different way and definitely not single kids out like you have. I don't think you'd say that to Mickey or Lee and if you did you probably know their response would be to walk away from you.

Serious question here, has SP ever changed QB's midseason since they started running the redbone?

I read these same types comments in '09 about Josh Justice in a year which he later went on to lead us to a state title. These young SP offenses gel and always do so when it really matters. I've seen it year after year and those paying attention have too. There is no reason to hit the panic button.

One thing that really annoys me to no end is going to away games and having to sit beside some anonymous numbnut who bitches and whines ad nauseaum about our overwhelmingly run play calls. Our run game is the fundamental premise of our offense which has won conference title after conference title and a couple state championships along the way.

I cannot disagree with coondog. Something needs to change and the weak link appears to be QB and while SP has a good offensive system, it could be a lot better play calling. I'm not saying I know better than Linberger and staff, but I do know under Coach Devine, we would have a few more state championships to show for.
