These young ladies had to be impressed. I always appreciate when the younger players and their parents take unofficial visits. Shows a high level of mutual interest. I understand why some half way across the country don't though.

If a player doesn't want to be part of the Iowa program, good luck to them elsewhere, because I don't think there's any other place--not UConn, not UCLA, not South Carolina--that has sold out 50 straight women's basketball games--15,000 people at a pop. There's no greater atmosphere, despite the multitude of shortcomings that is Carver, anywhere. Ask Michigan. Ask Nebraska men's coach Fred Hoiberg.

Any player who experiences a day like yesterday, with the Hawkeyes dominating #6 Michigan and the fans supporting them every second, and says no to Iowa must be allergic to snow and cold.

Although it can't hurt, most recruiting results reveal that game attendance and atmosphere is pretty low on the list of things the wbb recruits look for. It doesn't completely make sense from fan perspective, but that seems to be the case.

A lot of Midwest recruits yesterday. I do wonder who the possible "other" '27 recruit was going to be-- that (I guess) didn't make it.
Interesting that they bring in players that project to the same position on the same day. I wonder what the strategy is with that, or if it isn't strategy at all, just an open invite for visits on a weekend with a big game. Anyone know how they set up such a day?

This. Home attendance / game day atmosphere is a positive in recruiting but obviously subordinate to other more important factors. It is overblown IMO. Fan support could possibly tip the balance though ..everything else being near equal in the recruit’s mind.

leistikow mentioned that 5 star recruit from vegas (name escapes me?) was having a great time and loving her visit before the game. the game itself probably didn't hurt.

most of the recruits were seated close to us. Photos of most have been posted. One that I haven’t seen had natural red hair in pigtails seated near the Dowling girl. Looked young. Anyone know who she might be

What else matters that Iowa can't at least match? Academics? Money? TV exposure? Playing for Kim or Geno or Dawn?

Iowa just had the best player in women's college basketball history, a woman who single-handedly changed the entire perspective of women's sports. It didn't happen at UConn despite its annual national titles. It didn't happen at LSU. It didn't happen at South Carolina or Texas or Michigan or Ohio State . . .

And I hear the weather in Connecticut ain't exactly palm trees and sandy beaches, so why shouldn't Iowa be as attractive as any school out there?

I don't know, I have hearing loss from the last second shot by CC against Indiana.
Kylie was exaggerating. Recency bias. But that's okay. There have been plenty of really, really loud women's games at Carver the last few years, and Michigan was one of them.

I'll argue Iowa has better academics than LSU, UConn or South Carolina. Now, Stanford, UCLA, North Carolina, Duke, Texas, Michigan, no. However, Stuelke just got her degree in Creative Writing. That's a resounding yes against any school in the country. I wonder how she got into the program. The admission must be highly competitive.

Those are great questions. And yet, recruiting to Iowa still has hurdles. It helps to get the players to visit Iowa City, and the recent success of the program has helped make great strides getting players to at least have a look. Despite all the things that seem like they would be attractive to players from fan perspective--and yeah, including Caitlin Clark, for whatever reasons--it remains difficult.

The blue blood programs have huge advantage bringing recruits in. That distinction remains the the most attractive thing to players. The money game exacerbates that advantage.

*I don't imagine they get Chit-Chat without hiring Barrett first. Kind of illustrates how difficult it is to get a look.

*Watched an NCAAW centric podcast earlier today and one of the hosts implied that watching Iowa- Michigan wasn't watching "real basketball." I'm not even sure where she was coming from, but a pretty wild take. There are things out there that need to be overcome.

*I'd guess Nation Williams visited because of familiarity with Jensen through her mother and the Iowa players that played for the Aces. It's great to get the visit, and it would appear Williams was happy on her visit, but she's probably a lot of time and visjts away from making any decisions.

*Seubert was a great start for that class, however. Wonder if Jada will be down for any of the remaining games.
