With the addition of Cam Jones, we are up to 18th in Rivals' team rankings with 1797... one point behind South Carolina and 5 behind Tennessee.

We have 20 commits, 5 of which are 5.5 and 3 stars. The only way to move up in points now is by getting players ranked higher than 5.5.

5.5 = 60 points, 5.6 = 75, 5.7 = 90, 5.8 = 105 All remaining targets are 5.5 - 5.8. Some of the 5.8 kids are worth extra points for being in the Rivals Top 250. I will leave those extra points out (Bell would add 11 additional points... not enough to matter.).

Tago is a 5.6. When he commits, he will get us up to 1812 and in 16th overall.
Washington or Henry gets us an addition 30 points, moving us up to 1842.
Landing Jean-Baptiste, Caleb Tannor, or Jarrett Bell adds 45 points, getting us up to 1887.

Michigan is ranked 15th with 1972 points, so we basically cannot finish better than 16th overall. Tennessee has only 18 recruits, so they will pass us back rather easily. We will finish 17th - 22nd as a few teams in the 20-30th rankings still have only 12, 14, 16, 16, and 17 recruits.

This is just a amazing recruiting class compared to what some of us were expecting at the end of November when Riley was fired. Frost and his assistants are out kicking butt. GBR!!!

One thing to remember is that Mapieu probably won’t qualify (IMO). So that subtracts 30 from our total since it’ll bump another 5.5 recruit into our top 20.

I’m not convinced that anybody is going to jump us. Do Florida, FSU, and UCLA really have that many recruits that are gonna pick them between now and signing day? I expect us to jump S. Carolina, but Tennessee will stay ahead of us. So my prediction is 17.

If Frost can get top 10 classes, say, every other year, I’ll feel extremely good about us competing for national championships. Hopefully he can do that with full recruiting cycles instead of just 2 months.

NU will most likely end up conservatively at #20. They are at 20 kids now and 3.4 average stars= their overall score will go up some- when some of the higher ranked new kids commit and displace lower ranked ones- as Rivals only counts your best 20

Florida has 14 kids- but their average rating is 3.79- they will pass us in all likelihood

FSU only has 12 kids but their average rating is 3.83- they will pass us- most likely

UCLA has 16 and average 3.38
A&M only has 14 and average 3.36
I thought both would pass NU- now only 1 of them might. Both have come on strong late with new coaching staffs and are still in on some very highly rated recruits.

Good point with Masry. Ever since some poster said he saw him play in person and wasn't impressed, I have been a little down on him.

Maybe that is wrong. Who knows for sure, but if he doesn't make it, I feel good that maybe we end up signing an additional player that is a 5.7 since only a couple renaining on our board are 5.5.

Regardless, looking at the final points of a top 20 class the last 4 years tells me that we will be passed up by some of those schools.

Those schools with only 12, 14, and 16 recruits already have 1500 or 1600 points. When they add 4-6 more players of 5.5 or better, they can pass us easily.

I think they will sign that many recruits in the next 1.5 weeks to fill up their class. Same as any other year, but I don't know where they sit as far as being able to take up to 20 recruits this cycle.

Best case is 17 and worst case could be down to 23-25th, but I would guess 19-21st.

On a side note, a decommit wouldn't scare me unless it happened on signing day as these coaches have too many recruits that they are going to have to say no to.

Top 20 classes every year seem possible with this amazing first cycle, but it is a wait and see for top 10 classes. Sure as hell would be nice though! If Frost can win and win a lot (with a killer offense), anything is possible.

Just glad to see this program back on track with some semblance of leadership at the top. From the coach to the AD to the powers that be, everyone seems to finally have a focus on what is good for the football program.

NU has never been good at picking football coaches. Maybe they were 100 years ago, I dunno. The only external coach I think they ever hired worth a darn is Devaney. He anointed T.O. his successor and we got lucky. So lucky we thought it would last forever.

Our track record since then is abysmal, hiring one failed coach after another. None of them have succeeded at a high level since leaving NU. Hopefully it has now changed.
