With the news of Hyatt committing to LSU, I figured I’d be disappointed. I’m not. And here’s why.

Pikiell has landed his priority recruit every year since coming.

2017: Baker
2018: Mathis
2019: Mulcahy

The old days it was “name your recruit” or bust and we never seemed to come out on the right side of it. This is a real staff that is committed to working their tails off to have a deep pipeline of prospects. Even when they missed out on Hyatt and Alvarado, the sky didn’t seem like it was falling because it wasn’t all or nothing. They’ve been able to land their priority recruits and others along the way. We’ve finally turned the corner on the trail. With better results on the court the sky will be the limit!

We have great options for 2019. Best of luck to Hyatt and hope he has a great college career. It’s easy not to be bitter when you have faith in the team leadership. I’m looking forward to what Pike has up his sleeve next!

I get the premise of your post but a bit of revisionist history. Who says Baker was the "primary target". He was a realistic target that we landed. One could argue that Alvarado was the primary target that year and missed.

Otherwise I definitely agree that things are looking up.

Don't mistake priority with much publicity for the recruit....fans have tried that with Baker and Alvarado, Strickland and McConnell.....Mathis and Hyatt.....

The less publicized ones like Harper, Jacob Young and Myles Johnson came onto the RU radar and it wasn't long before they committed.

Next up is the most recent information tied to Massoud....he is the most recent item but the staff does a good job of finding out how to make things fit and work. Mulcahy was a key piece to the program as was Mathis and Baker.

Everybody says that AFTER they sign a guy.

Geo was offered before Alvarado.

I don’t get the multiple posts here spinning it negatively. At the very least the staff identified an under the radar plyer that was a big time contributor as a freshman and played his best basketball against Purdue and Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament.

Then you don't remember bakers recruitment. We were on him early and often. Anyone who says Baker wasn't our priority target that year simply doesn't know what the hell they're talking about.
