How many do we get? I think because we are Nebraska and everything seems to be a **** show, Mickey wins 5 games, gets us to a bowl and now Trev is put in a really tough position as MJ wins over the locker room.

I think we will look very competitive once the schedule cools down and we start playing our peers in the B1G

Most likely won’t happen but winning 5 games and finish 6-6 and make a bowl game..

I assume this was not intended to be a rational statement? We did play one peer team, got beat, hung on with a FCS team and gave up a years worth in a loss to a Sun Belt team with a new coach. Not sure how it is going to get any easier with the peers you speak of.

we had nw on the ropes

the rest of our division & the teams we play from the east are very similar to them (and us)

our B1G schedule doesn't have another offense on it that can compare to the sun belt team except maybe michigan with their 2nd string QB

Unless our defense improves we will not win another game this year even with Frost gone. Chinander and his flawed defensive schemes are still here, and our glaring lack of talent on defense is not going to suddenly improve. Is Ty Robinson suddenly going to get off blocks and stop getting his *** whipped on every play just because Frost is gone? Is Polar Bear going to stop being the recruiting bust that he is just because Frost is gone? Linebackers get speed and brains? Safeties put on 20 pounds and learn how to tackle? The overhyped Mathis actually put some pressure on a QB?

I am not being cynical here or negative just to be negative. I really think our defense is historically awful and until that changes we do not win again.

I feel sorry for Mickey Joseph. He has that "it" factor I think and I would have loved for him to be dealt a better hand. But if we go 0-9 down the stretch, or even 1-8, who is going to be clamoring for us to hire him? If he manages to win even just three more games I would consider that a big plus in his favor. Rutgers, Indiana, Illinois ... all beatable. But so was Georgia Southern and Northwestern. And man oh man if Joseph actually gets us to 5 more wins and a bowl game then I think he really does deserve serious consideration.

Going to be an interesting ride!

No, I'm talking about the game in 4 days. Wait and see. Too many people are negative on the program. The sky isn't falling at all.. things are actually lining up for us.
Gee, would hate to see things if they were actually going poorly and not "lining up."

don't be a clown.. we are like a ship that had a bad rudder.. we just removed that bad rudder and replaced it with a much better one. People should be looking up, not down. We are not some rudderless ship. We just fixed a big problem. Have a little optimism.

I voted 4-5 only because I have no idea how many players care about winning or losing. It would not shock me if a few weak minded players skip out on the team because they loved Frost and had it easy. This is what I think the biggest problem is with a few on the team, they are soft with little fire in the belly and desire to win. I hope our next HC won't put up with this and move those types out of the program. I do expect many on the team will fight hard for Mickey, I just don't know how many of those players will be willing to go through a wall for him. We're about to find out this Saturday how dedicated this team is to winning or giving up this season.

While it’s possible we end up with some nice record I don’t think it’s at all likely. Would love to be surprised though.

There’s just not enough time to substantially change direction and practice it. No outside D coordinator worth anything is coming in for two months of work. We could fire chinander and maybe ruud gets them boys fire up but we’re likely to stay within the general direction scheme wise as what we have.

I expect trev is mostly evaluating leadership, culture, organization, practice habits etc and not so much thinking Mickey has to go win 6 before he gives him the job. If Mickey were to wholesale change schemes he’d lose probably four games before the kids looked competent and his best foot right now is to play to whatever strengths we have while demonstrating some of those intangibles.

I think our O will keep us in games. And if Mickey has more sense than Frost… we could win 4 more = 5

*IF* and it’s a BIG if, MJ can get the defense under control to be somewhat close to average, the remaining year could be a lot of fun.

Dont know a number but I think it will be more than if Frost stayed. Mickey seems vested. Frost was checked out
