Team is done. Same issues every game and zero improvement all year so far. Horrific roster construction and a non functional offense (yet again). Just a disaster of a season. Coming off a disaster of a season. And heading into a likely another disaster of a season. But let's go build a statue...

Andy Katz was the sideline reporter on the telecast. He mentioned twice in the 2nd half that Pike was imploring the team during timeouts to play with energy, clapping and trying to energize them.

This team has no heart and no leadership.

And we still haven’t figured out how to defend Iowa’s motion offense after 9 years.

Iowa hadn’t won a game on the road.
Missing their best player.
Tons of injuries for them. Full roster for us.
Double digit lead at half.
The RAC is supposed to be untouchable place.
2 NBA players on our team.
And we F’n lose.

Not just lose. They took our lunch in our house and rolled over the last 3 min.

Defense was awful.
Rebounding was awful.
They dominated us inside.

Unimaginable we would be under .500
Unimaginable that the fan base would be so apathetic the last 2 months of what was supposed to be a once in a generation season.

Sad.

Outscored 51-31 in the 2nd half to a team missing it’s starting center and starting PG.

Peyton Sandfort and Josh Dix = leadership

This team has no heart and no leadership..

I hate to keep bringing this up but I started a thread after the Kennesaw game on how it was a major red flag that we had multiple players laughing both at the end of the game and post game.

After losing to F’kin Kennesaw state.

Definitely a lack of culture and leaderhsip on this team, and unfortunately it starts at the top.

Pike lost this season when he brought in portal guys who simply lack the talent to play at level. Hate to write about players but they are all so limited on both sides of the ball. Can’t believe he wasted NIL on some of these players.

Announcers summed it up in one sentence. “There is no leadership on this team.” There is no one to hold the younger guys and transfers accountable. Jwill is a net loss on the court and an absolute abomination when it comes to leadership ability.

Now that I've had a few minutes to calm down, get this coaching staff out of my university. Can get a cheerleader who rolls the balls out and holds nobody accountable for a lot less than $4M per year.

Thanks for the good times, but it's over. Take the high road and negotiate a settlement with the school. He's obviously too stubborn to change up how he runs this program.

I brought it up in the in game thread. Jwill joking and laughing throughout was a harbinger of things to come. He continued that attitude throughout the season. His constant flopping around and attitude set the course for the young guns on the court.

Kevin Willard surrounded his 5-star freshman center with three OUTSTANDING two-way guards who can both score and defend. Maryland will be a 6 seed.

Pike surrounded his two 5-star freshmen with a bunch of unathletic players who all have severe flaws. Rutgers will be watching March Madness from home and won’t even make the other tournaments.

This season has been an utter abomination, and Pike won’t survive it ultimately.

Yep. I saw the light after the tournament. Lost hope after that. It’s been a pretty easy season actually for me

I think the great thing about this season for the fans to realize is that it can’t ever get worse than this. It’s a nice feeling to know that every season after this one won’t be the worst rutgers basketball season we ever saw

It was game 25 and it seemed like Pike is still trying to figure out what players to play and when to play them.

In the first 5 minutes of the game, I thought we were running our 4-minute offense. Very bizarre.

It will be interesting to see if our last regular season game is to determine whether or not we make the Big ten tournament.

Big pike fan but tonight the inability to inbound under your basket 3 times. That is inexcusable and likely cost us the game. Losing faith rapidly and the failure to lock down on a rotation is another legitimate knock.

I don’t even mean that Pike will be fired. First of all, we don’t have a president or AD, so there’s nobody to hold him accountable.

This year.

I mean that his reputation has likely taken a fatal hit that will now impact recruiting and portaling, such that it will be difficult for him to field high level teams after this disgrace of a season. And the donor base is likely so fed up that it will be more difficult to raise NIL funds like GS has done on the football side.

So he won’t be fired now, but he and the program will slowly bleed out until the next AD decides to pull the plug and start fresh.

Sadly the ceiling with Pike seems to be the occasional above average bubble team. Without a senior laden defensive minded team to gut out 18-19 wins, this seems to be what we should expect from him. Which is really pathetic with 2 lottery picks.

To all the doom and gloomers and naysayers...

You were, apparently, correct.

I don't know if I saw "QUIT" or "INCOMPETENCE" in that game.. perhaps both... including Pike.

If that were the first game of teh season I might complain about how they did not use the preseason properly.. but it is the middle of February.

To not know how to inbound the ball? 3 turnovers at least.. including the 5-second call which seemed a little bogus.. but still.

Our O seemed to call on 1 on 1 drives but the stars were incapable, mostly. Both seem hurt in one way or another.. so why keep calling on them as if they are 100%?

A better Rutgers team must show up or they may as well write off the Big Ten Tourney.. never mind any kind of postseason. And if that happens.. how can Pike keep his job with 2 NBA lottery picks on the roster? That is a complete reversal of opinion on my part because this game was just that bad.

Perhaps that is because we cannot run a motion offense to practice against.

We have a stand-around-and-watch offense.

Absolutely embarrassing effort.

Stick a fork in this team.

Fvcking garbage.
Typically you provide detailed and accurate analysis. I completely don’t blame you for only posting this as the recap. Says it all. The effort (or lack of) was totally unacceptable, shocking that Dylan was also one of those who displayed no effort, have not seen that from him and it was a little shocking coming from him. The Iowa point guard had twice the intensity of Dylan.

Fvcking clapping . His motivation. Maybe he needs some pom poms.
