Football is in such a strange place.. 10 straight bowl games yet Moorhead was one step short of being a disaster. Huge transition into a new overall personality for the program. No idea what to expect other than....interesting.

So glad baseball is here. I can't go to every game like when I was in my 20's and early 30's. Nice to have the SECN available now. I wonder if spring time will always remind my kids of dad having MSU baseball on every tv in the house. And by that time I wonder if we'll have won it all in Omaha.

People who interview Mike Leach love to get him talking about anything but football and he never shies away from the invitation. One part of my mind thinks... Man, does he ever think about the task at hand of coaching the team? And the other part says... He's been this way forever so just let the method to his madness run its course.

Vic Schaefer.. Hope that dude loves it in Starkville. He's the best we've ever had in any program. There was a moment in the TA&M game in the second half where he was riding Jessika Carter about something and she tried to insert her opinion. Vic wasn't hearing any of that **** and called her down. She walked back onto the court and rolled her eyes the way my daughter does when I tell her she has to practice piano if she ever wants to be better. A 12-point beat down of the Aggies ensued. One day I bet Jessika looks back and thinks... Yeah, coach was right.

I'm a huge skeptic of what we're about to do with The Hump. That's some $50M lipstick we're about to put on...

We need to do something with the south end zone of DWS. We don't need more seats.. but we need to figure something out. And I bet the demo company would cut us a BOGO offer for Seal and Dorman... just sayin'. I still say a hotel fashioned to LOOK LIKE A STADIUM would do crazy business and be one of the most unique things in CFB.

Not seeing #15 in center field will be strange Friday. It's tough to overstate what The Mayor meant to our baseball program going all the way back to when Cohen was coaching.

I'm not a fan of much contemporary pop music but I get it. I can see the most popular stars are insanely talented in ways I could never understand. They are pushing their genres ahead in the same way all the greats did before them. I completely get why their stuff is so infectious to today's young people. And then there's Billie Eiish...

“One step short of being a disaster”? He was a 10K run past being a disaster.

I agree with you on The Hump. We need to tear it down and build new.

Got no idea on DWS

Glad baseball season is finally here....my favorite time of year. I’ll make 20-25 games this season. More if we make it back to Omaha.

And I REALLY have no idea on today’s pop music or this Billie Eilish singer. I’m blessed to have a 16 yr old son that loves Rush, Bowie and Neil Young...

I think we have different definitions of disaster. John L. Smith at Arkansas was a disaster. Ellis Johnson at USM was a disaster. Moorhead was a disappointment.

Moorhead.. I've settled on the opinion that we headed off his last step to being a complete disaster.

Yeah, I can see what you’re saying and I agree. I look back at the ‘18 season and what we had on D + if we’d have run Mullen’s O for one more season.

Disaster is a big overstatement. We were in bowl games both years he was here. Disaster is how Sherril left us

Does Leach ever worry about the task at hand? His being in bowls 16 of the 18 years he has coached at mid tier programs says he does.

I have no clue about pop music, or women’s basketball.

Completely agree about Mangum

Is that Billie Eilish?

I've never seen her before.

Also, I think her music blows.

Of course, that's just my opinion . . . which really isn't very important.
That's one of the more normal looks of hers. Her music isn't my cup of tea either. She's an interesting character. Just turned 18 and is riding a wave of popularity for sure. In the video below she goes back to her home where her and her brother started recording music when she was 13. Her mom talks about how mindblowing it all is.

On Leach’s dealings with the media, he’s smart enough to know both how pointless the media questions are as well as his answers to them are. That goes for 90% of the questions they ask. The only relevant information that ever comes out of those press conferences with any coach is related to injuries, which takes 5 seconds to address. The rest is all filler with coach speak and non-answers to questions for just about all normal coaches, but they are still expected to be up there for 10-15 minutes or however long and field the same canned questions.. I’m glad Leach has fun with it and knows for every minute he talks about zombies or marriage or whatever, that’s less time he has to allot to the normal coach speak.

I’m sailing in the same boat as you when it comes to the Hump renovation. The investment in improving the concession concourse is nice, but it still feels like 90% of the focus is being put on premium seating which is mind boggling. Hey, we can barely get the average MSU fan to go to a men’s game when it’s practically free, but yeah.... let’s put in even more expensive seating and see how it goes. Seems like a brilliant plan

On the surface, I guess I don’t hate the hotel at DWS idea. It’s just that I know dang well that some absurd $800/nt price tag will be coming with it, and I’ll roll my eyes at that point. I also can’t help but feel that we’re really missing the boat by not focusing more on a restaurant/party deck/kid zone. Yeah, I know that party deck and kid zone are basically oxymorons, but I’d be putting more of a focus on family entertainment. Fans are in need of reasons to attend these days

Only thing I’ll say about Eilish is that I’m holding out hope that her label is pushing the garbage we’re hearing on the radio, and she’ll eventually be allowed to release more “normal” music. My wife’s played some stuff for me, and she’s got some decent music out there, but I can’t stand the crap that’s hitting the radio. Now... as far as Tyler the Creator goes... I’m sorry, it’s utter indefensible crap

$800/nt on game weekends?.. No.. my plan would be much worse than that. In the Xeno Model every room would have balcony seating for 8 people. If you book on gameday Saturdays you'd be responsible for the price of the room plus 8 tickets.

The rooms would have doors to the balconies that would only be unlocked on game days. Other times the rooms would simply have awesome views that looked out into the stadium. Handy for 'cruitin....

Basketball games, Super Bulldog Weekend, baseball games, graduation, reunions... where better to stay than the Inn at Davis Wade?

I think that's pretty much the standard plan. Premium seating is where the money is, so not having any for the hump is a challenge. Ideally we'd have sky boxes all the way around.

Getting attendance up is more or less unrelated to the premium seating. It might help us get real committed fans down on the floor if corporate ticket buyers moved to sky boxes.

Based on attendance, we need fewer seats in the Hump. As for premium seats, I'm not sure that will work either. Biggest thing is to put students on the floor. Atmosphere is what is important, not plush seating. Of course my basketball days as a student was when Babe was the coach.

Lot more palatable to put students on the floor if our most premium seats are at the top of the first level.

I think we're going to find out we need fewer seats in football also unless Leach just kills it.

That all sounds like a good idea, but you have to be careful not to canabalize your skybox purchasers. You have 8 tickets that come with it, and you could essentially have another what, 30 poor man's sky boxes (assuming ten per floor on floors 2 through 4)? And instead of having to do catering through the university they can just bring their food in?

I like the idea. I wonder if it wouldn't bring in more revenue though to make it condos like the left field lounge ones. Could we lease say 30 there for more than the left field lounge leases?

no seats necessary at all. atmosphere is when everyone is standing and screaming.

But there are a lot of those lower bowl seats that stay empty most of the time that the school is still getting premium seat income off of from bigwigs that buy the seats but never show up. Seems like you can either take the higher revenue or the butts in the seats but not both. We have taken the revenue ever since the reseating that ticked off a lot of long time loyal basketball supporters. Atmosphere has never really been the same since. Even when we have big games the lower bowl is still only about 70-80% full.
