That sucks. He was a great villain. Saw a documentary on him a year or so ago. Impressive guy. Born in Iran, Olympic wrestler, was the Shah's bodyguard. Fled Iran and became an American citizen, coached the US Olympic team, and actually loved America. It was sad to see how bad his health had deteriorated.
Absolutely. The randomness of his trolling was mesmerizing.

Didn't they pair him with a huge Russian wrestler to play on the Cold War fury? That was a great time when wrestling was a silly, extravagant Passion Play each week on television to try and sell their PPV?
Audio on this clip is terrible but this is a great group of Sheik stories.

Supposedly an actual badass and former bodyguard for the Shah's Family. He was one of the few wrestlers Hogan was actually afraid of.

Spent a little time in Mempho as well back in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
