If memory serves from several years back there are a number of you guys that were pretty up-to-date on what AAU inclusion meant… Am I remembering correctly it is a massive amount of money per university, correct?

Not even close. No money. Where would the money come from ? It’s an advocacy group and prestige cohort of 60 or so member universities including 1-2 in Canada, with membership based on academic credentials.

it’s not funded by government research dollars, through the Big 10 and AAU?

Each AAU Research University must attract its own Research Funding but being designated an AAU school is very prestigious (small club).

The OP guy may be an Iowa Fan.

Iowa State University will no longer be an AAU member University.

Iowa Board has a long thread on this topic.

I guess Kansas will be the only AAU school in the new Big 12 when Texas leaves.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!
