(And apologies if asked-answered elsewhere)

Is it staying up over the winter/spring early summer?

I just wondered if due to security/liability issues it would be prudent to dismantle some/all of it and reinstall in July/August.

Supposedly it is, though likely with some alterations both for lacrosse season and for the 2025 football season.

That's a pretty serious structure out there. It may be called temporary but that isn't how it was built. It isn't going anywhere until after next season.

I'm imagining a giant tarp over it to protect it from the winter elements.

Perhaps it should remain, for all the other terrific Northwestern sports. Ryan Mini-me.

My 8th grader came with me to the Wisconsin game and said the stadium brought back memories of Harry Potter. Maybe there will be intramural Quidditch in Spring Quarter?

Back in the day we played intramural football and softball on the lakeside field when it used to be a very large green empty lawn. The transformation in recent years is nothing short of amazing.

Yep, I remember those days. Damn cold playing football in late fall. There also used to be club rugby played out there.

I talked to the main guy from the stadium company before one game. It will stay up but they have a process for winterizing it.

There is also a possible option to leave it up for the first few games of 2026 if needed due to construction delays.

With any luck it will look like a scene from Dr Zhivago.

In the late '60s when I was at Northwestern the winters were brutal. Lake waves formed ice sculptures maybe 20' high.

Makes sense to keep it around a bit longer "just in case" There is a saying "Everything takes longer than it takes and costs more than it costs"

Damn I didn’t know you were that old. Glad to have your wisdom here.

There’s also a question about what type of game NU wants for a first game at the new Ryan Field. Probably a B1G matchup? Which could be the first game of the year the way they do scheduling now.

I plan on bringing my boys to run around on it in January when the NCAA isn’t looking. 🤫
