Johnson will get an opportunity when they are ready for him to get in there. Still very early...haven't gotten to the first media timeout of the season yet so plenty of time/opportunity to come.

To rephrase that in a more constructive way: Padgett (for example) has clearly improved a lot since last season. 5 games into the season we, fans, don’t “know what we have” with anybody. There are clearly new and old arms the staff think are better options, and it’s probably because OJ still has the problem he’s had his whole time here—throwing strikes consistently. It’s tough for him, but in the grand scheme of things Glauber and Seagraves beating him out just means we have two righty power arms we can go to out of the bullpen. It would be good if OJ were reliable enough to go to, but he’s not in a niche we’re starving for options in.

It's super competitive to get on the mound for UNC this year. Not only does it seem like Glauber and Padgett are ahead of him, but also Seagraves and Flannery. All that could still change by the time we play all 56 games.

IMO, OJ hasn't recovered from being thrown to the wolves in Clarke-LeClair as a freshman. Forbes didn't do him any favors, but that's another conversation. Outside of Lynch, I think OJ has the highest ceiling of all of our pitchers as far as the big leagues go. The mental part of the game is what he struggles with.
