“is giving coach 10 million in NIL more cost effective than firing him and eating his contract”
“is giving coach 10 million in NIL more cost effective than firing him and eating his contract”
So sad that we’ll be bottom of the barrel for years yetSo the answer is likely yes because the money for the ten mill is from the revenue share and what they have raised for NIL through corporations which is viewed as advertising or labor to those corps, whereas these corporations probably don’t want to donate money to pay 20 million to buyout a coach plus buying out his staff and then finding money to hire a new coach and staff and then again raising NIL money for that new coach…especially when the deficit story just went viral…
I actually think he’s here two more years, but he’s shown nothing the last three calendar years that we have any hope of climbing out of being a bottom feeder. Even with more money we still have his eye for talent, his inability to be patient when needed, Simpson, Wolf, his inability to run an offense, his crazy substitution patterns, the mid range laden shot charts, the doubling of screens relentlessly even when the other team knows it, the won’t foul late up three. We’re not even assured we’ll retain Francis. I agree we need NiL at least for a future coach to see we can provide it. I just feel we’ll continue to be irrelevant for years yet.Look if he doesn’t get it done next year, he’s likely gone but they have finally put together an infrastructure with a GM and actually raising money—they’re gonna give him a shot.

Genius, what kid wants to come here when the coach’s seat will be boiling over next year? Or new assistants? Kids want money but they want to win.
Brilliant! Don't invest in roster upgrades because message board geniuses don't like the head coach who has one more year (maybe two, but if he bombs it's one) here.
BTW it's Keli, with one L, just like LOSER.
You are a nitwit. See the discussion on Pres. Tate's letter and calm down. Otherwise, please pony up the $21M for the buyout.Genius, what kid wants to come here when the coach’s seat will be boiling over next year? Or new assistants? Kids want money but they want to win.
if the President was serious about winning, then Greg “So So” Schiano would be gone already.
Not true!! It also about making sound financial decisions also. These coaches have not been supported in terms of dollars and MAYBE JUST MAYBE they want to setup future coaches with an infrastructure to make this role attractive as well. Who wants to come here without an NIL platform in place…I think this is more about the NIL platform than the coaches at the moment.
Give them 1-2yrs to prove it out and if not we are setup to attract top tier coaches. Get this stain off the program out of peoples minds
You clearly enjoy losing, and thus are a loser.You are a nitwit. See the discussion on Pres. Tate's letter and calm down. Otherwise, please pony up the $21M for the buyout.
I thought you would at least say you were screwed by a professor who kept you from getting a 4.0 and will never donate to this school. This has been an underfunded program going back to Tom Young who I had a relationship with during his many years here. If not for Abe Suydam who was the God Fsther of Rutgers hoops Phil Sellers would have ended up in North Bend. If Tom needed something Abe would always finance it. In fact Abe being a super sales person went into homes with Tom to sell recruits. He donated the locker room renovation for the RAC. Unfortunately he passed severalYou clearly enjoy losing, and thus are a loser.
This program doesn’t deserve a penny after blowing Kaliakmanis’s 5th year by going 5-7 (typical for So So Schiano).
Smith’s buyout was $30M.
If Rutgers has a sugar daddy step up with $100M to get the ball rolling then that would be meaningful.I thought you would at least say you were screwed by a professor who kept you from getting a 4.0 and will never donate to this school. Years ago. There is nothing wrong that 10 million in NIL won’t cure.
I thought this was a basketball discussionIf Rutgers has a sugar daddy step up with $100M to get the ball rolling then that would be meaningful.
* $30M for NIL ($10M won’t get far in the B1G)
* $20M for Schiano’s buyout
* $50M initial donation towards improved practice facilities to start (10-25% of the total needed for a real Field House?)
Pike ain’t going nowhereI thought this was a basketball discussion
So your silence says I’m right about all the other faults, but since you drilled in on just this, they go hand in hand. Knowing when to cut bait is part of evaluation/eye for talent. If a player blossoms somewhere else he doesn’t deserve credit for that. If he would have stuck it out with Wolf, Simpson and maybe Griffiths he gets credit and his hit miss record doesn’t look so bad. We’d be a lot better now with Wolf, Buchanan, Griffiths, Simpson and Francis. Maybe Dortch and Powers coming off the bench. Still not an ncaa team but not absolutely pathetic. I remember Simpsons carrying us to a win at Penn st a few years ago. And two years ago there were so many opportunities to play Griffith more in a crap season, “develop” him as so many say he’s good at, but no. Knowing when to say “when” is all part of the eye for talent process. Maybe I shouldn’t have listed both of them. I apologize.I think it’s interesting you say he doesn’t have an eye for talent but then says he’s not being patient.
Why do I have to read this same bullspit day after day? No I have a lot of thoughts that just stuck out to me and I’m not in the mood to debate back and forthSo your silence says I’m right about all the other faults, but since you drilled in on just this, they go hand in hand. How stupid are you? You don’t have to read it. It’s a choice. Besides if you read my posts you’d see I’ve already admitted he’ll be here for another two. I’m entitled to my opinion.Why do I have to read this same bullspit day after day? You have stated this probably 1000 times.
Get a grip . He is staying another year at least. All your bitching and complaining is like pissing into the wind even after you have realized there is always blowback.
Weak or not skilled enough toNo I have a lot of thoughts that just stuck out to me and I’m not in the mood to debate back and forth
No. I was just…Bored? And have things to do?Weak or not skilled enough to
I really am starting to question the mental acuity of many here especially those prone to tantrums and not well thought out responses like Lou and yourself.You clearly enjoy losing, and thus are a loser.

I was referring to the former MSU coach.I really am starting to question the mental acuity of many here especially those prone to tantrums and not well thought out responses like Lou and yourself.
BTW who is this Smith that's owed $30m? No former RU coach is owed this much money.
