IMO clearly the biggest recruiting miss in the Scott Frost era. 41 TDs the past two years at TCU (25 pass, 16 rush). Intense competitor and field leader, anyone who has seen him play would agree.

Duggan played at Council Bluffs Lewis Central, about an hour drive from Lincoln. 2018 Iowa HS POY. Custom fit to run Frost's UCF scheme. How in the hell did Frost drop the ball here?

Instead of benching Martinez for McCaffrey, Duggan would have gotten the call and the rest would be history... Huskers would be 1-0 and a Top25 team this week. Instead he is stuck with Martinez and two noodles to try and salvage the rest of the season.

We had absolutely no prayer of landing him and he made that very clear months before he commited to TCU

That’s assuming our staff isn’t responsible for the poor QB play. I think they are, meaning Duggan would suck for us too.

What's the story? You would think that a QB prospect in Nebraska's backyard who played his his high school ball while Frost and Milton got national headlines at UCF would at least be willing to hear a recruiting pitch, no? Duggan is Milton 2.0 in a lot of ways.

Look at his HS film and the plays he has made at TCU - the perfect QB to run Frost's offense. Hide Mario in the broom closet and spend 10 minutes showing Duggan UCFMilton film, the deal is sealed

Joe Burrows was the biggest IMHO.

We were his leader before the coaching change. Had several crystal ball picks to Nebraska, but after we landed AM and he started as a Freshman there was no chance.

Highlight reel features throws into double coverage. I don't think I have ever seen AM trust his receivers enough to put the ball up like that and expect his guy to win the fight for it in the air.

He actually did it on a long throw to Martin Saturday. I know many of us were like FINALLY. We have some big talented receivers, just give them a chance to make a play.

Yes, but when he eliminated us was months before he comitted to TCU and AM had nothing to do with it, It was about Riley being fired

Seriously? Smart kid sniffed out Frost's fraudulency easily.

OMG, Duggan was not recruited by Riley until late and Duggan was butt hurt and said no way he was going to NU. When Frost got hired he visited Duggan and his family but the damage had already happened and Duggan wasn’t a great fit fit Frost style anyways so they laid off. It was on Riley not Frost

Neither was McCaffrey. McCaffrey got his opportunity and failed. Duggan would have shined.
I have heard the fans/players for Rice like the Green kid better at QB than Luke. Nepotism may be in Lukes favor. Curious to see their season opener against Arkansas.

He would have been an awesome fit. A smart kid who throws with authority and can move in the pocket. The QB running the ball IS NOT supposed to be part of Frost's offense. The QB should not have more than 50 yards per game, and that's from scrambles and gimme plays where you can take off for 15 yards and slide.

Completely disagree. I can only assume that you have never watched Max play.... or maybe you have a wildly different idea of what constitutes Frost's offensive style. Duggan is a good, not great, passer who plays smart and is a nails-tough runner and competitor.

A talented dual threat QB is exactly what Frost needs to run his style of offense. He held offers from every major conference, including Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, and others. Frost recruited him for a reason. .

Correct he had offers from all those schools, yet people actually thought he was going to choose NU? People need to wake up and quit living in the 90s

Max Duggan is a tough kid that wills his teammates into playing hard. The kid is considerably better than Martinez. Toughness and competitive spirit in the QB position is paramount almost everywhere, but particularly here at Nebraska.

This is legit. Not just poor QB, but poor offense as a whole. Not sure any of them can figure out what they want to do, or how they want to do it.

Duggan grew up and played a few minutes from Omaha metro. Nebraska should be the team to beat. I will concede that national power programs such as ND and Ohio State will make it tough but recently more than a handful of local players - including guys like Keagan Johnson whose dad actually played at Nebraska - are leaving without much of a fight.

Do you really think he’s better than what we got?;)

If we had a competent backup do you think Martinez doesn’t get yanked sooner?
We can whine about losing out on Dugan and Burrow but the guy we lost who probably screwed us the most was Gebbia. He's a very accurate passer with more than adequate mobility and a high football IQ. He was ready made to step in for Adrian when he got injured and struggled and he possibly would have not given that starting job back to Adrian until next season when he ran out of eligibility.

Yep. Gebbia would have played a lot more -- to date -- if he had stayed here, and might be the starter.

To be fair, most of our receivers the last few years probably wouldn't come up with those types of catches.
