I am an alum and 35+ year season ticket holder for football and basketball, know some of you; not a poster but regular reader/subscriber. I am an owner of the Beach Haus Brewery in Belmar and our good friend Eric LeGrand will be with us for the Watch Party this Saturday for the Purdue game. We will be featuring Eric’s great bourbon, along with 20+ taps, full bar and great food - 10 foot screen and multiple TVs as well as our rooftop bar. Let’s get our B1G W - it will be a great day! Doors open at 10. DM me with any questions. GO RU! https://www.tapinto.net/towns/belmar-slash-lake-como/sections/business-and-finance/articles/eric-legrand-to-host-rutgers-vs-purdue-watch-party-at-beach-haus-brewery

I think Rutgers ought to auction off plates to have a watch party each year with Eric and other notables from RU past. Hell, I'd even reach out to Bruce, Bon Jovi, Devito and many others to see if they'd offered a day for the benefit to RU athletics funds with this.

similar to a presidential dinner plate party for fundraising

get 100 people at 10-15k a plate or something

never know till you try

Thanks for advertising this here. Count me in!

It's going to be quite a day. I'll do this from 12-4 and then I'm going with my wife to Leggets at 5 for their 90th anniversary shindig.

Geeze.. Leggets is still around.. That's great.
You can still get a bottle of beer at Leggets for $3.

This summer, my daughter had 3 of her college friends visit. My wife and I took them to the Pig and Parrot and a round of drinks for 6 people was $80 including tip. Then I took them to Leggets for a round of drinks. With tip it was $25.

When you consider the alternatives, Leggets should be around for another 90 years.

Especially with the Salty Whale closing.
And eating on the patio waterfront at the Pig and Parrot has literally turned into a zoo with dogs allowed. Last time we went, multiple yapping dogs, and one owner tied the dog leash to the table, the dog got excited, lunged for another dog, and the table turned flipped over. Last time we went there for a meal. Leggetts pizza gets very strong reviews. Have not tried it yet.

Leggets pizza is above average but I wouldn't tell people to go there just for the pizza. Wings are also good but again, not special trip worthy. It's a short enough drive for you though.

I went to the Salty Whale frequently so I'll miss it but understand the decision to sell the land for housing development. I'm sure the owner made a killing. Not sure what happens to the liquor license but assume he can get a nice chunk of change for that as well.

You are right there are dogs all over the ground level of Pig and Parrot.

Rarely go to Leggets, not for any reason. Funny thing, I guy I grew up with and worked at the Old Towne Car Wash with is the manager.

This must have been for happy hour lol.

Drinks at Djais during HH are $4. You show them an insta post you get a free drink card.

It all depends on when you go.

OTOH a Vice at Leggetts (their most famous drink) is like $13. But their pizza and nachos are very good.

Living up north now, prices DTS, unless you're maybe at a very, very fancy place in Asbury- are a steal.

It's funny because there will be times when I'll go with my volleyball team or a group of people. I'm ordering $3 Bud Lights and they're ordering $13 top shelf drinks. I'm the dope that splits the tab evenly and subsidizes everyone.

It was a good time but the turnout was disappointing. On the plus side, you could talk to Eric as much as you wanted. He's such a good guy.

The sad and simple truth is that not many people care about Rutgers football...
