First off…I get what local sports is supposed to look like in this town because I did it for many years.

So hats off to channel 2! Full package and stand up at the Reynolds Center with postgame and a really nice highlight set. I didn’t time it, but it seemed well over one minute.

Meanwhile on Channel 6, they buried the lead and started with osu football schedule being released which is 9 months away, the Thunder in the dog days of NBA winter before getting to what seemed like 20 seconds of TU - Memphis highlights. Then, they didn’t forget to give you another recap of OSU’s loss to TCU with full post game from Steve Lutz 24 HOURS LATER!

Look man…I get it when OU and osu are playing TU may get 3rd bill, but cmon, they both lost last night and it was LAST NIGHT… don’t think osu losing at TCU 24 hours ago is more important. I just don’t. Anyway, all this to say great job channel 2 and shame on 6 for its patronizing coverage of TU. If they were losing, I get it, but this team is 16-3 and after all, you are a TULSA station, act like it!

I’m just tired of what’s become of local sports in this town…gone are the days of no cheering in the press box. John Holcomb did his OSU report in a bright orange shirt while Toby Rowland did his OU report in his Jordan brand Sooner clothing.

I understand these guys are paid by those universities and they are obligated to support them, but don’t call yourself an unbiased journalist, it’s more like a glorified cheerleader. It’s just tiring. BTW, I know John and Toby are good fellas who mean well, but it’s tiring.

That’s all.

Cayden McFarland is a huge bright spot in the Tulsa local sports scene. I assume he's had opportunities to go elsewhere, because he's fantastic at what he does. He has always given TU a fair shake, from the very start. I told him one time, he is the only local sports guy that Doug Wojcik said nice things about -- and THAT's saying something. :ROFLMAO:

But seriously, Cayden is awesome -- not just as a sportscaster, but also as a human.

I've known John Holcomb for a long time, and he's a great guy as well...great at his job...but Ch 6/9 is very OSU/OU slanted. Just the way it is due to their ties to those Universities. I've never met Toby, but he's entertaining.

For a man that hated the press, the beach boys, and probably everybody else he had dealings with, that is definitely a compliment for Cayden.

Just an aside, I don't really care for the Beach Boys or surf rock in general, but I recognize genius in my love of 'Caroline No' and 'God Only Knows'. There is a couple of great tunes on Smile, late to the party follow up to Pet Sounds.

I agree. Holcomb is a good man, but TU needs a fair shake.

At least Haisten at the World has done a long jump and landed on the TU bandwagon. This type of season is what it takes for the media and the sideline fans to take notice and bring support. We saw the difference from Jim King Era to the Nolan Richardson era. We finally won a big game at home for the younger fans to enjoy and hopefully return.

KJRH was outstanding tonight in their TU coverage!
They’re the best at giving TU decent time!
I only watch kjrh local news if anything. Hope Sinclair does not buy Scrips. I recall that fell through. Could you imagine two local newscasts originating in okc?

Looks like they cut Mike Peters so glad somebody at the TW is paying attention.

And Dan Lindblad’s father played basketball for Tulsa so he also gives us some good coverage.
