I read in the Athletic that Sorsby from Cincy owes them $1M because he had a multi-year contract. He had an out clause but he'd have to pay Cincy $1M. Got me to thinking, would Iowa bring in some of these portal kids in with two to three years left and sign them for multiple years?

Makes you wonder because that is how free agency is structured. Makes you wonder especially since Kirks good friend and former NFL GM Scott Pioli was consulting the program and university on NIL and the portal.

Recruits possibly, not transfer portal kids from lower levels. This is what Leistikow discussed previously. He said Iowa shops thriftily in the portal to save money for recruits.

Didn't see that. Several of these portal kids have proven they can play, would hate for them to have good years and not stay around. I prefer our method of developing and retaining our players.

I think I read the same Athletic article. What I took away is that the "big time" portal guys are getting locked up for multiple years, but everyone else is on one year because the coaches want the flexibility to jettison guys that aren't working out.
