I have a strong bias in favor of playing Princeton,as do many alumni over 50.They lead Rutgers 70-45 and Rutgers is a much stronger Program than them now. I really like Jadwin and Rutgers would bring 5000 or so fans.I fully comprehend that many posters could care less about playing them but one misconception which should be clarified is that this is not your father's Princeton. They run,run and run more and score in the 70s and 80s on occasion. I do some Yale basketball on the radio and the power in the Ivies rests now at Yale and Harvard. It is completely up to Steve, but it is a potentially fun game which costs nothing in travel and is a win which engenders pride in those of us who saw Princeton kick us around for years with smugness and impunity.

I'm well over 50 and don't miss playing the Tigers one bit. The last several RU-PU games didn't draw well at all and playing in the funereal atmosphere of Jadwin is just awful. I worked at PU for 6 years and went to, at most, 5 home bball games. Three were against RU of course and the other 2 were against its Ivy arch-rival (for bball) Penn. Those two just exchanged visits within the past two weeks or so and neither matchup could draw anywhere near 4000.

If we must have a major NJ rival, let it be the team that Gruninger (by default) created - SHU. Anyone else in-state should be RAC games only.

Welcome back

I’m 50...and remember well Pete Carrill and assistants getting four straight Ts in the 1978 win At the RAC and was under the backboard when I thought Steve worthy would shatter it in my face when we ended their 30 game home winning streak

There is NO good playing them. None. You need 2-3 days to prepare for them and then 2-3 days to flush them during the development part of the season/

Unless the game is on a Saturday night, we aren’t coming in mass to jadwin

Unless we play them 2 for 1...with their one game in jaswin being on a Saturday night so we can make it a defacto home game...this is a hard pass as nothing good will come from this series. Win...? We are supposed to.

Lose ...bad

Unless my scheduling conditions are met...hard pass

Great, gonna have Brian Earl nightmares tonight. Thanks 72!!! Side note, Jadwin is def. an awesome and historic arena! Loved going and seeing my Knights play there in the 90s and early 2000s. I do miss that.

Hey "Fear the Tigers". So glad the 76 team didn't wilt under such pressure.
We're Rutgers and we're in the B1G but please God lets not play the natural rival 30 mins up route 1. They play different style of ball.

Why do people say they "could care less" when they mean they "couldn't care less"

As someone else said they don’t play the way they used to and there’s a 30 second shot clock these days too. It’s not similar to preparing for Army football anymore. We get maybe 3,500 people for most November / December home games so predicting 5,000 will travel to Jadwin is a bit of a stretch. But, it is a potential occasional easy road trip that will count as a road game on our resume but could feel like a home game. If we’re worried about losing to Princeton then we’ve got bigger problems.

Princeton doesn't sit on the ball like they use to. I wouldn't mind playing them again but it must be 2 games at the RAC and 1 at Princeton.

I seriously doubt that PU would ever agree to that, though for decades they graciously hosted our football team for 9 games out of ten, on average.

Would be a fun 2 for 1 BUT Princeton shoots lights out from 3 and I think it’s a bad matchup for us

Over 50 and would love to play them and we should.

Tradition!

Would generate more fans then many OOC games.

Like it or not Rutgers v Princeton looks cool scrolling across bottom of TV.

Back in the Big East Days would help us prepare for Georgetown.

Now will help us when we play slower Tempo teams like Wiscy, Northwestern or if we ever play a slower tempo team in the Big Dance.

Not a bad loss ever if they beat us. Cough cough Fordham.

Really should be back on schedule yesterday.

In my 61st year, and I support playing PU in BB. I understand the program imbalance in FB makes the continuation of that rivalry impractical. But BB? This is good for NJ.

As I see it, the Princeton fascination is a "generally" a generational thing.

Many of the older alumni (say 60 and over) grew up with it and yearn for its rebirth.

The "younger " generation (say 55 and younger) have no interest in it.

I'm in the 55-60 age range and could care less about Princeton - however if games were ever scheduled against Princeton, they're exclusively played at the RAC. No need to play any games at Jadwin.

And for FB - a big time NO
