UM. Eric Crouch wants a word with you. I wouldn’t crown Thomalia just yet. He’s playing with an all star roster that nobody can compete with. He might be good in college but he’s not really been tested at all in high school.
seems like frost saying we got better to joe montana

Don’t want 7 more years of 4-5 wins either. Some of you wanted Fred fired too. Looks like letting a guy build some stability is going to work there. I wouldn’t have extended Rhule when we did but we are where we are now. He ain’t goin anywhere so suck it up and be supportive.
I mean, did it really need to take Fred 7 seasons (I am not even sure how long he has been at NU) to "build something"?

Are any of his current players even "program guys"? His son was going to be on the team no matter what. Then that Mast guy, I guess he counts.

It is not like he was a first time HC, figuring out the ropes.

We are a football school. Absolutely no basketball recruit outside of Nebraska even thinks once about Nebraska basketball. Fred has done a tremendous job all things considered. All of the universities energy goes into football. Matt is highly paid and all of our NIL goes to the team.

You don’t want a guy that can only succeed in a perfect environment. We’re actually doing him a favor. He needs to learn how to scramble out of trouble and keep the chains moving. So far the grade on that is a big fat F.

The kid from Millard South is going to be in for a rude awakening should he ever take snaps in the SEC. He’s never faced any adversity. You hope he has it in him when he does.
I saw a list that had him as the 71st ranked player in the nation. There are obviously a lot of people who feel that he's got what it takes.

Kinda odd that Rhule didn't offer an in-state kid who is so highly touted. They must have seen something that they didn't like.

His kind of quarterbacking is becoming more rare. Can’t name too many guys who can’t take off with the ball. Drake Maye, maybe?
Matthew Stafford doesn’t, but he’s probably the best pure passer in the league. Other than that?
Drake Maye is pretty athletic. But regarding pro-style drop back QBs, I heard a conversation on a podcast that said about half of the teams (at that time) that were looking like playoff teams had pro-style QBs and half the teams had dual threat QBs. So it's not as rare as it seems, but Dylan's issues with handling the pocket, holding onto the ball, reluctant to run might be more than other guys.

Not starting over when you have "average" is how you end up like iowa.

Do you really want 25+ years of average because you are afraid of change?
Average would be an improvement. NU thinks of itself as still being a top program and spends accordingly. Yet we are 1-9 against Iowa in our last 10. We're always figuring out new ways to blow close games (in between blowouts on national TV.

I think it's more that they were too busy shining the knob of some other family.

Some of Iowa’s formula has been stability in their coaching staff. Maybe that breeds mediocrity or maybe for a team stuck in a state with a limited population and recruiting base it allows them to maintain a relatively high floor. They have one of the best DCs in the B1G but it took him a few years to reach that level.

Like it or not, in hindsight their previous AD probably made the right move by making Kirk virtually unfireable. I highly doubt Iowa was going to bring in a better staff if they had canned him at some point. They are what everybody thinks they are. A slightly above average B1G football program who wins enough to fill their stadium
