Pope blaming players tonight

Listened to the postgame and Pope seemed to be critical of the players. Saying they are stubborn, left their defensive assignments, lead guards didn’t come back and get the team into the offense.
He was asked about the sub pattern (kind of) and he seems to fall back no analytics. It is apparent he doesn’t get it. Or he is the stubborn one.

Tang was ousted for cause due to throwing players under the bus.

I am the biggest UK fan on this board. Seeing the team struggle makes me sick. The coach had a bad game. But can you sit there and say, if you are honest, that being able to give Lowe, Kam and JQ all the minutes that Jasper, Noah, Jelly and BG get wouldn't make the difference in several close games like tonight? I know no one wants to give him an injury pass, but to do that ignores the truth

No really don't think so those are just more of the same average at best castaways that other teams didn't want

He better pull out all the stops against Auburn.

About all he can do, IMO...start MoD for Jelly. Tell DA, Oweh, Chandler, Mo and MM that they will play 34 minutes a game the rest of the season. Divide the remaining 30 total minutes between Jasper and Jelly. Ride them into the ground

He can’t coach. I know we are down with all the injuries, but we should have won this game. His horrendous substitutions and mediocre coaching didn’t allow us to win!

About time he grew a pair of balls. This team don't respect him. These guys needed to be thrown under the bus after they got bent over and violated by Gonzaga. I still think he's in over his head but I'm glad he's putting the blame on these clowns. It's still on him for putting this group together but how's the saying go ? You can lead a horse to the water but you can't make it drink. That seems like what's going on with this bunch of bozos on the court.

Now now.. don’t take it to far Cowboy. Unlimited support of suckiness doesn’t make you the biggest UK fan. Just the biggest supporter of wheels falling off energy. I like you. You’re a ride or die. At some point it’s not believable what you say lol:

No, it wasn’t that simple. We played, but we let Georgia play their preferred uptempo pace and shoot a lot of un- or lightly-contested threes, which they hit. Somto Cyril was a beast. We missed free throws and Oweh picked up a bad-luck F1 fighting through a screen. We didn’t look terrible, but we didn’t control the game, and it was a game we couldn’t afford to lose.

They've been losing defensive assignments for two years now. Our problem is a coach who can't teach players how to defend and recruiting.. You can't beat good teams by getting fourth, fifth, or sixth option talent and try to make them your best players..

Pope will still be here next year...and he is going to have a heck of a season. When he does, and the hurricane hits...I'm not sharing my umbrella lol

Pope is just unlucky. He has just happened to get uncoachable players for his whole career.

He’s been saddled with guys that are not self motivated and that don’t take personal improvements and conditioning as their responsibility.

One day he’s going to get some guys that are coachable and committed to self improvement and he can just them the way.

And when those guys aren’t run off, (Perry), they will show the doubters.

Might take 10-12 years and a few rule changes but Pope will get there.

Just wait!!

We actually made 12 3s and shot 40% from 3 , 46% from the field and out rebounded them by 7 and still managed to lose by 8 after being up by 8 twice. Lack of defense and playing soft especially in the post killed us, that and the 13 TOs.
