Here is a program that celebrates mediocrity. They never attempt to get better, every year the recruiting stays the same, every year they keep the same old boring offense. The only time they are mentioned nationally is when they have an incredibly easy schedule even then they eventually get exposed for what they are mediocre. Actually they have one department that does well, the future scheduling department.

I feel for their fans I really do they have no hope of ever achieving excellence or winning anything of note. I know Iowegians will point to our recent struggles and claim superiority but the reality is our program has it sights set higher than Iowa. We may have failed in the last 20 years but we will eventually get it right, because we keep trying

So while we may lose this Friday, I still feel pity for Iowa fans they really have no hope of ever being great

My eye doc is an Iowa fan. He pretty much has the same diagnosis.

I really think most of the big 10 schools have different goals, and somewhat misguided. Going back to Nebraska in the old big 8 our goal was win the league, beat OU go to Orange bowl and probably also play for a national championship. From looking from a far it appears the most important thing for most big 10 schools is win the trophy games, That's the number one goal for them, then maybe win the big 10 then the Rose Bowl. i believe that why Iowa, Minnesota,Purdue,Illinois,Indiana, even Wisconsin to some extent doesn't mind being mediocre and occasionally beating Michigan and Ohio state.

The difference between Nebraska football and Iowa football is that Kirk Ferentz can be pedestrian for 20 years and become a legend whereas Nebraska has fired four coaches in 20 years despite comparable results. I guess that's called expectations. Nebraska has expectations, Iowa doesn't.

Did you guys make up "undefeated" rings for the 2018 campaign yet?

If not, here's a thought: You guys start with Miami Ohio next season. First game out of the chute.

There is an EXTREMELY high chance you'll win that game and be undefeated at that point.

I'm betting that you can get a discount on both the 2018 undefeated ring and 2019 undefeated ring if you order them all at the same time.

While it's no guarantee, it would probably be a safe hedge. You guys might want to consider it; could bring the price down to the 50-60 dollar range.

The OPs post doesn't hold water when you consider Iowa was going to be in the CFP in 2015 had they won the Big 10 title game (one stop or one good bounce here or there and they defeat MSU).

In 2009 had the QB not gotten hurt vs NW, Iowa might have played in the BCS title game (or at least been "in the hunt", which is all anyone can ask for including Nebraska).

Don't whine about the schedule either, Nebraska and Iowa will essentially have the same schedules moving forward. Win the Big10 and you are likely in.

Expectation levels are lower at Iowa than Nebraska, but I think you guys might want to be more realistic and turn the dial back a little. Iowa fans could probably turn the dial up a little too, no question about it.

That's pretty funny. We have been hearing for weeks from Nebraska fans how Vegas was going to like the Huskers in this contest.
Really? I thought we had been hearing how dominant Iowa is and that they would be a 14-16 point favorite. But congrats on the point spread, even if it is a TD lower than all the genius Hawk fans know it should be.

As a side note - it’s normal for Nebraska fans to discuss opponents on the Nebraska message board. What is not normal, and instead is sad, pathetic, and a crystal clear signal that Iowa fans desperately seek the approval of Nebraska is their constant presence on this board.

For the record, if you are a Nebraska fan on the Iowa board, it is quite likely you come off sounding like a half-wit looking for attention - just like the Iowa fans here.

Was not 2015 a year in which you played Indiana and maryland as your cross over games and did not play either MI,OSU or PSU? you then lost to MSU and were blasted by Stanford

That is the very definition of an easy schedule

I really do not think NU will use Iowa as a template for where our expectations should be in fact your statement says it all

Iowa would rather be 7-5 every season than take a risk to be a great team. That's just how Iowa is. Average. Not just football. Its people. Its cities. Just about everything. But especially football.

Truth is Vegas doesn't really know who's gonna win. Point spread here is home field and that's it. If we were playing here, this point spread would swing the other way.

Well, you will be disappointed for the next 20 years then ... Nebraska is in a real conference now. If you get a shot at the conference title once in 4 or 5 years be happy. If you win the Big10 you will get in the CFP most likely. Get used to it, you are no better than Iowa.

Thanks for making my point... if you think the Nebraska fans on your board are a bunch of dipshits.... look in the mirror. Have some pride. Go away.
Yawn.... it's funny to watch you guys get chesty before we beat your a$$ then I'll come back and listen to your excuses. (Its become a yearly tradition)

It's a 10 point spread, the best stadiums in the nation give their team 3.5 points. Do you even have a clue?
Get a clue, I know that's a new one for our little sisters to comprehend, but keep working at it and you'll eventually get it! It really is a pretty sad state of affairs you Chokin' Chickens you live in! Everyone has delusions of grandeur every now and then, but you idiots have made a permanent home there! LOL

What do you get when you put Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny and a Good Iowa Football team in the same room together?
Nothing, as none of them have ever existed....

Iowa is happy where they are at. They are fine consistently winning 7, 8, 9 games a year. They are fine making it to a middle of the road bowl game. They are fine being ranked off an on in the teens and twenty's. They are fine having a top 10 team once every 15-20 years. Bottom line Iowa and its fans are completely fine with being slightly above average. If they are happy then so be it.
Nebraska is different we aren't happy with those results. We want and expect more. We may be unrealistic at times, but the 2 programs just have different levels of what they see as a success. Neither are right or wrong. We just want more.

Where else can a coach that is currently in his 20th year and has a contract through 2026 find such a bunch of suckers? He hasn't won a Big 10 Championship since 2004, was humiliated at the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl, currently has losing streaks against five Big Ten teams. I have Ferentz Fatigue but apparently not enough fans and donors do.
