Hiring an assistant is always a crap shoot especially in a good conference. Would much prefer a young up and coming head coach from a lower level conference. Would love to see Pooh come back here as an assistant if he has interest.

Has he recruited well in his recent jobs?

Pooh, Rod and Shea as assistants. That would be something.

Hmm. Lawpoke not wanting rod. Wonder why? Just kidding. But rod has best chance of recruiting local, (ok,ark, and Kansas) kids. His connections in the AAU world would be huge and his personality is over the top

Thought this thread was about hiring Pooh as HC? That question was certainly what my post was directed towards.

Hiring AAU coaches (Penny Hardaway- Memphis) and JUCO National Champion coaches (Nolan Richardson- Tulsa) has worked before for some. There is risk but a school like Tulsa has to take risks since we cannot hire an established coach easily.

Rad and Pooh might be interesting...
Shea has yet to prove that he can recruit locally...
Not sure who or if Shea has recruited a player that could/can lead us to the next level...

Somebody said Shea was the lead on Jeffries. Nice but hoping for more. Perhaps this off-season.

By all reports, Rod hasn't shown interest in the assistant position even though multiple people here and elsewhere have thrown his name around.

There are a multitude of scenarios floating around inside the University of Tulsa.
As long as none of those scenarios involve a contract extension, I'm happy.

I feel like Haith has had a fair shake. I have long been in favor of giving him a bit more time and not judging too quickly. But I feel like the team has been underperforming and wildly uneven, and that is a problem that falls mostly on the coaching. I really like Haith. I wouldn't be opposed to him sticking around for his last contract year just to give him that extra chance. But I think he's probably hit his ceiling, and it's just not good enough.

I believe Haith put his rear on the line when he made the statement that this was his most talented team since he’s been at TU. That statement there made it a NCAA or bust year. He had his chance, time to move on.

He was....That might be a little misleading tho.....Jeffries transferred out of ORU with the
intent to transfer to TU......
