Good for him! In another thread, I noted Lou Dawkins end of game 3 to ice OSU in the 2nd round. Maybe the greatest play I've ever seen was in the same game. Pooh's leap to block a 3 ball, come down with it & in the next instant throw a 3/4 court perfect pass to Collier, Seals? (can't remember) for a layup. Wow-will never forget it!

Great guy. Good for him. I suspect Tubby will “hire” G.G. and Saul as his assistants.

Let me clarify my post above for those who might have poo, poo'd(sorry) a simple block which are a dime a dozen: Pooh didn't tip it, bat it or swat it-he leaped up & SNATCHED it out of the air & upon landing, threw to a teammate for a lay-up. How often do you see something like that?

I thought Scoop's article in the TW was nice for a change & why not him as a HC here? If successful, he might stick for longer than 1, 2, 3, 4 or more years. What a concept!

The most impressive physical play I ever saw Pooh make was as a freshman in the first round if the MVC tourney. Craig Hernadi launched a halfcourt heave with a couple of seconds left in the first half. Pooh caught the airball in mid air and did a reverse layup while still in the air just before the buzzer.

That article was trash. If you’re a real Tulsa fan you would know hiring someone just so they stick around is a recipe for disaster. Bad bad internet by you.

Pooh and Rod are charismatic and dynamic TU alumni. Pooh has been an assistant a long long time. When his head coach moved, he was not taken with him. I suspect he has never learned the "Billy Gillispie" closing technique on recruits though he is the nicest guy alive. I suspect Pooh would be a good coach but worry about his recruiting. Rod on the other hand has shown the ability to attract 4 star Oklahoma kids to his AAU team and is equally as nice, but doesn't have the collegiate experience of Pooh.(But neither does Penny Hardaway). We need whatever or whoever it takes to get in the top 2 or 3 in recruiting in the AAC. Sometimes I think Holder at OSU needs to nudge our AD to say similar things.

Amen! Recruiting is our (and everyones, for that matter) lifeblood....While we
will put a competitive team on the court this season, I don't think you can say
we have been really successful in our recruiting efforts the last three or four
years.....Our 2017 class of Jeffries, Jackson, Joiner, and Horne may turn out
to be a good one, but we will have to wait a while to see how the 2018 class
will turn out....I don't think we signed any of our primary targets....

I don't think our City, our School, our campus, our facility, or the conference we
play in are recruiting handicaps....

English and Schwartz were our last two promising recruiters....English in
particular, didn't stay around long enough to generate any dialog with the
players we were after....I guess you could say the jury is still out on our
current assistants......

Andy Stoglin, Kevin O'Neill, Billy Gillispie, David Cason, Kim English if I had to name five. Of course at TU it takes a head coach to close the deal and the three best later won National Championships.

Schwartz didn’t do as hot as some think here
I agree...He was heavily involved in the formation of the 8 man 2016 recruiting
class that has only Igbanu and Korita remaining....I can't remember whether he
left just before or just after the actual NOLI signing date...

While Magnay was a member of that class, and his early departure could not
have been foretold,There were several scholarships awarded in that group to
players who, for a variety of reasons, were not quiet ready to compete
successfully at this level....
