Rutgers will be underdogs in 4 of these and the Washington game will be close to pick em

I am voting 3-4
Splitting with Penn State and Maryland and splitting with Washington and Minnesota. Would not be surprised if we drop a home game but win on the road. Would be surprised by a sweep of either Penn State/Maryland

1 or 2 wins. This team blows.
I went with 3-4, too. I"d be surprised by a sweep of either Penn State/Maryland as well. In fact, I've been counting on a 3-4 finish to end the regular season since early January.
Maryland is going to knock off Iowa. Their best win of the year and I think its a good result for RU as the Terps are likely to have the letdown on road after a big win

Reasons to hope:
- To your point, after these two big wins, could the previously 1-10 Terps come into this game overconfident?
- We are way overdue for a win.
- We usually don't lay an egg at the RAC two games in a row.
Reasons to mope
- We've had a week to prepare, but UMD will not be tired or unprepared following a home game on a Wednesday.
- Darius Adams was recruited hard by RU and is going to want to show out in his home state.
- Andre Mills and David Coit are playing very well of late.
Overall, I'm worried that UMD may have turned a corner and is now going to play well from here on out. Before UMD's mini two game win streak, I liked our chances. Now they look like a good team coming into the RAC.
The only saving grace for RU is that this year there are a bunch of crappy B1G teams. Very lucky.
2-5 with splits against equally bad Maryland and Penn state. See if their coaches have longer leash than pike. Oh yes they do because we have $20M problem. At least there are only 7 games plus one league tourney remaining.

The PSU coach was just hired in March of 2023 and had 2023-24 & 2024-25.....he's not getting fired 3 years into a contract.
Buzz Williams is a borderline elite coach and has won at every stop (Marquette, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M) and is in year 1 at Maryland.....he will be at Maryland for the rest of the decade with promised NIL.
What RU has seen in wins has been high scoring games from Francis and contributing others to help. Right now, RU is probably in its best spot of the year to find 3 other players to get to double figures in all of the remaining 7 games.
I don't necessarily care what the win loss record is, because the reality is Oregon, Maryland easily outpace RU in NIL, so these injury ravaged teams are more than likely much better next year. Only option for RU is to try and keep up for 2026-27 in recruiting.
The ideal situation for the next 7 games is to continue to find shots for freshman and see if Buchanan and Grant can give RU a combined 20 to 25PPG. If that happens and Powers and Zrno provide a combined 25PPG, then 5-2 is on the table.
Problem is, there's no chance of 5-2, with Ogbole and JMike combining for just 10PPG vs most B1G competition, while playing almost 45 Minutes per game out of the 200 available minutes on the floor.
Is there a game where JMike, Powers AND Zrno get to 10 each or more??
RU is a legitimate guard (Dorian Jones redshirts this year) from being more than solid next year if most of the roster is back and we find a serviceable PF/C who can play 28 minutes a game.
Put me down for 4-3, I just believe Powers and Jones give RU a chance to be solid next year and as long as Powers keeps developing, RU will be in every game. Can JMike and Ogbole show up for a couple of games???

This is assuming anyone with talent stays. Judging by history, don't count on it.

Got in after we beat md, but figured on that as a win. Hoping for 2 more vs a pretty weak schedule. PSU at home and one of PSU, md, or minn on the road. Beating wash at home would be icing on the cake.

I thought the opening half was a sh*t show by both teams. But RU played well to start the 2nd half to build a 13 point lead and played defense well enough to not allow UMD to get closer than 5. I was very concerned about this game so I was very happy to see UMD lay an egg coming off those two wins. Good call by @bac2therac

so RU has 3 wins all against the dregs of the league but that does make them 3-0 against dregs. There are 5 more dreg games left as Washington gets thrown in there as they are 12th in the league and not a NCAA tourney team. So 8 dreg games to judge Pike, Now all 3 of them have been at home and there are still 3 more dregs on the road and 2 at home. Can Pike go 5-3 vs these 8 and at least stave off the pitchforks and can he do one better and get to 6 wins in league might be enough to keep them out of playing in the opening round of Big 10 tourny
Minnesota plays on Tuesday before hosting RU on Saturday so despite being shorthanded, the guys they have will be well rested with plenty of time to prepare for us. Then consider we have zero road wins on the season and I would sign for 1-1 over the next two games.
Glad I quantified my 2-5 with nothing from 1-4 would surprise me. Go get 5 and now I'm happily shocked.

No chickens are being counted, but 3 wins seems like an excellent possibility, and 4 wins is looking very good. 70% of those polled said this was not possible.

Man, that first half was a thing of beauty. Sick defense and shots going down on offense. So much more fun when your team looks good, lol.
Ogbole and Lino were awesome. Grant looked like the Grant from the beginning of the season. Zrno, Powers, and Francis did their thing. Even Nwuli looked really good.
Even though Lino was hot, I liked the decision to have the more experienced JMike out there in crunch time. Whether you like Pike or not, all of his substitutions worked out pretty well this time.

In the beginning of the season, I predicted 5 Big 10 wins. We now have four with plenty of opportunities left. I would love these guys to keep playing well and exceed my expectations. And if they get really hot, they may actually get an invite to the Crown Tournament. Let's see how they look on Saturday.
