Someone will say he's not good enough even though he just guided Hawaii to a Big West Championship, an NCAA win, and he's from New Jersey. Wouldn't hurt to look into this since Hawaii will have a postseason ban next year and a 2 scholarship drop for next 2 years.

Someone will still say that he's beneath Rutgers though.Looks like a West Coast type of guy anyway.

Again, more intrigue with him than Pikiell or Cluess. Also, Hawaiii coach is from NJ and Hawaii is banned from post season next year, reason to leave

Interesting choice, probably worthy of an interview. A little short on the resume with only one year as HC but a nice year. I missed the game, any particular style of basketball they play? 33 years old for those seeking younger candidates. I still like Dooley myself and some of the other off the radar names I mentioned but this guy is interesting just wish a little more beef on the resume.

Now we're just throwing s*** against the wall and hoping it sticks. Just like the writers.

If he can get players to come to Hawaii which is 6hrs away from the mainland. He should be able to sell Rutgers. I was stationed in Hawaii for 5 years and trust me good weather can't keep you there lol.

he didn't get anyone to come to Hawaii. the team was in place last year. they won 22 games last year with an interim coach. also, I think he's only 33 years old.

I like coaches that can beat top teams with lesser talent. The Hawaii coach did something Pickiell and Clueles never did
Expect Politi will back you up, once he sees your suggestion [roll]

Sounds like a panic move to me, but hire the guy because of an upset or two.
Did Jordan upset Wisconsin , maybe he deserves an interview[winking]

The big mistake continually is we need to hire a coach from the northeast. There are plenty of good hungry coaches elsewhere in America who beat better schools

During this season looks like he had a 8pt loss to Texas Tech in Lubbock, 3pt loss to OU in Hawaii, a 12 pt win against Auburn in Hawaii and a 16pt win against UNI in Hawaii. 2 losses to Long Beach state and all but 1 of his losses were by single digits.

Not bad for a first year coach. 1 year though is still very worrisome to me, regardless of whatever tourney run he might have. Worthy of an interview though but still think he'd have to knock Hobbs' socks off in an interview with the light resume.

Some articles on him.

Hire the Arkansas Little Rock HC.

SF Austin HC.

An assistant ready to make the jump.

Boyle.

Retread.

At this point, we need to expand the search not narrow it.

How many programs are left in the tourney.
Interview every assistant in all of those programs, since we seem to be adding the flavor of the day , more than twice a day as someone qualified to be considered for the job.

Having people withdraw their names might not be as bad as it looks, could be they were told what Hobbs expected of them and they felt it was too much.
Could be they were happy where they were at and only an offer that would blow them away would be good enough to consider the RU job and when it didn't come , they took themselves out of the game.

Yeah because people are expecting Red Aurebach or Tom Izzo to take a job for $15 an hour after every other coach is turning down.

At least give the guy an interview. What do we have to lose.
Looking desperate for one.
Talk behind the scenes with his rep in private , then decide if it's worth going public about considering him for the job.
The more Hobbs is known to have reached out to that aren't well known, the more he looks like he can't find a worthy candidate.
Even if he's keeping the search close to his vest, the media will be spinning any rumor or known fact into something that might make RU fans panic ( which isn't hard to do) .

Yeah because people are expecting Red Aurebach or Tom Izzo to take a job for $15 an hour after every other coach is turning down.
Two coaches withdrew their names, one was rumored to have wanted to stay where he was at because his family loved the area he's at now and the other might have felt it was too much of a gamble.
Even though the leaks suggested he was going to get the type of contracted he wanted.

No one should be expecting the best, just the best available and not want Hobbs to rush his decision because the RU MBB fans are panicking.
There's plenty of good choices out there, Hobbs just has to make sure he doesn't mistake a bad one for one of the good ones and that might take a little more time than we like.

Looking desperate happened months ago. We are way beyond desperate.

Agree 100%! This could be lightning in a bottle. Jersey guy. Young, hungry, and supposed to be a brilliant basketball guy. I know he has one year of HC experience, but what a year! He could be exactly what we need.

And he can bring back Taryn Hatcher

People are going to do what they're going to do. So be it. For me Hobbs can take whatever time he needs, leave no stone unturned and come up with the guy he thinks can do it. Really can't judge the hire until a few years from now anyway. We'll have our opinions but only time will tell. This is his job.

As to flash in the pan tourney performance, I agree I'm always wary of it. Ganot being local and having decent season against some solid opponents makes me say okay maybe worthy of a interview. But you have fluke games, fluke tourney runs and fluke seasons so the less on the resume the more apprehensive I am. Consistency is what you like to see but with such a short resume it's obviously an unknown. He'd really have to show something to bypass other names out there IMO.

Agree with all that, ruguy! However, this guy looks exactly like what we want. Check this out.

Unfortunately for us, he punched a whiteboard and broke his hand. But he wasn't mad though!
