And sadly it matters for NET rankings.I know Pitt really stinks, but it's good to beat the crap out of the teams you're supposed to beat the crap out of.
She plays better defense than Brooks, doesn’t seem to affect Brooks play time. Hull needs to work on ball handling and shooting off the dribble, right now she’s only a standstill shooter!I’m this close to starting a GoFundMe for offseason defensive training for Hull so maybe Banghart will play her in Q1 games. We need that offensive shot in those games. The defense is the only thing I can think is keeping her on the bench in big games…?
The game was never in doubt. Perfect opportunityI understand resting players, but we are fighting to host.
Human voters punish teams with great defenses. WVU and UNC both great examples of defense-heavy teams that got jilted on hosting in recent years. Also, important to note, NET alone doesn’t mean you host. WVU was ranked #12 in the NET last year and was a 6 seed in our bracket …..
Agree- the one knock on WVU was their 2-7 Q1 record last year. This week looms large…. Make or break for host… win both= 4-5 Q1, and 12 Q1/2 wins, T5 in the country.Human voters punish teams with great defenses. and she told Harris she was only getting 5 minutes today…Coach confirmed in post game PC Indya was out strictly for rest
Yes. She surely deserves more time on the floor. I did not notice a huge issue with her defense. Brooks is making progress on defense, but still a work in progres.LH does do a very good job of boxing out for rebounds, and yes, I agree the girl can shoot it. CB needs to play her some just for shooting and help out with spacing on the offensive end. She needs to work on sliding her feet more which is lateral quickness in the off season. If she knows how to play angles while she is playing defense, this can help compensate for her lateral quickness some.
This season's 3pt shooting among wing forwards:I think moving forward Hulls minutes will depend on the opponent that we are playing. Shooting is something all teams must have in order to win games. Having two or three on the court on the offensive end definitely opens up the inside game. Hull is tall and she does box out and rebounds well. I can see Hull playing in the next two games if the LG and NB shots are not falling.
I guess one can kind of forgive people for being prisoners of the moment. in conference play, Hull is shooting 43%, best on the team - but that's only on a sample size of 28 attempts. still seems like a sizeable upgrade shooting-wise over Nivar (31% vs ACC) and Brooks (28% vs ACC)... but a coach is always going to trust the bigger samples unless they've seen a reason to believe the smaller ones. This season's 3pt shooting among wing forwards:
Hull clearly leads the way. Only Grant is doing better. But her separation between Brooks and Nivar is pretty minimal. (Hull does shoot in smaller windows than Nivar) If we need more shooting it would be done by pulling Harris out and playing with only one post player, instead of needing to pull out Nivar or Brooks.
- Hull 39%
- Brooks 37%
- Zubich 36%
- Nivar 35%
- Henderson 29%
- Harris 18% (small sample set)
- Queiroz (no attempts)
