I wonder how much stress it causes for backups, and if they are incentivised to try and work harder, or leave for guaranteed money somewhere else. I imagine like everywhere, some players think they should be playing more or getting more looks.

Takes the pressure off coaches to play kids who were promised $. Best and most productive players play, seems like a novel practice

I don't have a problem with it but what about the coaches and admin getting guaranteed money? Put everybody on an incentive plan if you want to be fair.

What if a hot shot recruit thinks they should be playing more? Like a Carter Nelson for us. He sits on the bench and makes a fraction of what he can get at another school? I wonder how that works.

Sounds like a **** show that will blow up in their faces shortly. Although, trading that in the short term for a winning season might be worth it. It's not feasible in modern college football to just stop paying your players to "make them hungry." When you go to pay the performers after the season they'll already be in negotiations with better programs than Pitt. I think the improvement at PItt is because they fired their offensive staff, hired a really dynamic OC and got a portal QB from Alabama that has turned out to be pretty damn good.

What about pulling starters while winning?
What about switching backs at the goal line?
Could be good, but a lot of potential problems too.

Coaches, yes, admins no. We are dismantling the empty bureaucratic state. Bunch of worthless placeholders for the most part. The top the 20%. The rest have to go.

I like it, wins =$$.

With coaches that would be pretty straightforward. So with your Head Football Coach $1M for every win, or like a $2M base and another $2M for every win after six.

How do you structure that for an AD? Do you pretend like you care about all sports equally and go off the Director Cup standings? Is making money for the department part of it?

What if a WR sees your school has dog 💩 QBs? Or vice versa? You’d never sniff the best players they wouldn’t take the risk.

All pay for athletes should be performance based. That would guarantee effort.

Coaches as well.

These contracts they’re currently giving out are ridiculous and fail more often than not

Screw bonuses and the taxes that come with them while you make big bucks off of my back. Either pay me my value or I'll find someone who will.

The question really is… Can anyone hire an experienced winner, high demand coach with such incentive style contract. I think the University and the coaches’ representation can ink any kind of contract they both can agree on. I think you could maybe get a young up and comer to agree to such a contract. But no experienced coach is gonna go for that when other schools are offering 5-7 year contracts with lots of guaranteed money.

Point being, I guess, is that incentive based contracts can only work (IMO) if everyone is forced to do it. And I’m not sure that’s legally possible for someone/something (the gov’t 🤷‍♂️ IDK) to regulate contracts like that.
