Pitching rotation

DeCaro
Boaz
Lynch

Tyler Howe will be the line up most likely in RF. 'he's earned it'

LF - major competition ongoing, going to be a matchup thing early in season.

And, IF the weather situation continues to be a Sunday issue...expect a DH on Saturday. Won't be settled until later in the week....

Very interesting that Howe is the one clear starter at this point in the corner OF. He wasn't on my radar with all of other names expected to be in the mix there (French, Sawyer Black, Hargett, Maginnis). He must be having a phenomenal pre-season

Forbes mentioned all of those you reference potentially at the other corner with matchups being a big factor into who out there to start.

Yeah, Forbes has said that he has; the others have been mentioned for DH and the other corner;

ETA: Tommy beat me to it

Good question. Figure once a decision is made on the games, that will be answered.

can’t remember in the past but I want to say yes….but again, that should be addressed once a final call is made.

Long term, you gotta hope Hargett and Black get the nod at LF and DH. I feel like if it’s marginal you gotta try to get some opportunities to get comfortable early in the season. As long as the defense is competent in LF and everyone is healthy.

Being selfish, if we have to play a DH, I want it on Friday. I'm on the hook to take my wife out to dinner for Valentine's Day Saturday night.

Of course, being retired, a noon start on Friday isn't a problem for me. :)

shot called! i probably shouldn't have been judging off of 3 ABs, but reaching all 3 times in a pitcher's duel like the State exhibition really impressed me. really didn't seem like he was going to be anything other than one of the 9 best bats in the lineup.

reading between the lines of Forbes' interview, French is not going to be starting even if he's been mentioned in competition - saying we might see the "best defensive lineup" of French/Hull/Howe in innings 7-9 basically says we're not going to see that outfield on the lineup card.

Boaz on Saturdays and Lynch Sundays is really interesting to me. Forbes has been bragging about Folger all winter, this is kind of a money-where-your-mouth-is call for him. gonna be a tall order to justify going ahead of Lynch, and if he does, i doubt there will be a better 1-2-3 rotation in the country.

Howe will be starting in RF on Opening Day. Forbes directly said that

And the pitching RLR rotation seems preferred

And finally, Forbes has shown plenty of of willingness to switch things up even if things are going well.

I honestly can’t wait!!! “Wait a minute, I have to go up against the pitcher who is on the preseason pitcher of the year watchlist? Shouldn’t he be their Friday guy? What kind of sorcery is Carolina baseball pulling here?”
