Does he have money to pull an Ash and bring in some stud assistants? Does he keep Shoes? was mentioned he knows him and he did a good job in grabbing Sanders and Laurent. Does he try to hire Boyle?

Boyle will not be an assist. Makes way too much money in Fla. Jay Williams won't be an assistant.

Interested if we can get a big time asst, like Rasheen Davis at VCU. Shoes seems to be a real possibility, per everything out there

Interesting that Jay Williams congratulated him. Wonder if he'd be willing to be an assistant. Probably not, but worth a call.

Is Geoff Billett available?
When will Rutgers drop the provincial hiring, and hiring Billet would be another example of it? We are in the Big Ten and should be able to hire people with rock-solid credentials. People who have climbed the coaching ladder with increasing responsibility and a record of success.

You may as well add these other Assistant Coaches to the list from Stony Brook.
Chapman has midwest ties and handles the wings.
Rickard is the Offensive Coordinator and handles the guards.

Shoes could take the 'Statue of Mike O'Koren' position and serve as the Recruiting Coordinator.

The Associate HC may get the bump to HC.

Bring this Rickard.

I want a clean sweep. We do not need Shoes. He may have brought in recruits, so what, thats his job, he was part of a failed regime. Coaches get swept away in regimes changes all the time. It seems like RU was always keeping guys like Carr, Cox, Macon through different coaches..why? None of the regimes were successful. Its time to start over and get a better staff

Trust me I didn't take it as snarky. I can take criticism as well especially when my info is wrong. I don't run and hide. Pikiell nailed the interview. Never got to Cluess.

Told Thursday they wanted to interview him (Cluess) as soon as he got back and he was their top choice.

Hobbs was thoroughly impressed. Pikiell laid out a plan (3-4 years) of how he plans on making Rutgers relevant in the Big 10.

Thought Cluess was getting the job - what happened? (Not being snarky)

Billet seems happy at CBA. He left SHU to go back to his high school. I doubt he will be returning to RU.

where is Marquis Webb?
Just hoping Pikiell has the resources to get what he wants/feels he needs. Might include Shoes in that.

But Marquis Webb is intriguing. He played in Wellington for a year in the NZ pro league. Not great basketball, but not horrible either. I was friends with a guy whose kid was on the team with Marquis. He said all the other players on the team loved Marquis and really looked up to him.

I have no doubt this is the Xs and Os guy we've all been screaming for for years. Of course we need to recruit. I'll take Fred Hill Jr. Types to round out the staff for the sole purpose of recruiting. Asking the connected folks, who are they? Do we take an AAU guy, a Kevin Boyle, a World Wide Wes?

The current assistant staff is a joke. He needs to clean house and get great recruiters.

I hope there were no conditions on Pikiell getting the job related to retaining Shoes with understanding that means Sanders stays. Would prefer a clean sweep but up to the HC.

If we know anything about Hobbs so far, it is that he looks for a guy with a plan and goes all in on that plan. If Pikiell impressed by laying out a 4 year plan, then I would say don't worry about Hobbs giving him what hr needs to put that plan into action.

Sounds like Calhoun is going to be giving him advice on staff. I like hearing that and I expect him to be good mentor for Pikiell.

Calhoun said he spoke with Pikiell on Saturday and will talk to him again on Sunday.
One key aspect of their conversations, Calhoun said, will be the makeup of Pikiell's staff. It appears that Jay Young, Pikiell's associate head coach, has a strong chance to replace Pikiell at Stony Brook, meaning he will have at least one vacancy on his staff.

"One of the things we'll be talking about [with Pikiell] is the makeup of the staff becomes incredibly important," Calhoun said.

"Not only next year's class that you have coming [needs to be] maintained, but what are you doing over the next couple of years to make sure you gets kids that you should get. Putting that staff together is going to become incredibly important for recruiting and you need X's and O's and you need a coach who can develop players. You're taking care of today but you're making sure that Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 are all going forward, too. So those are the kinds of things we'll be talking about."

"You can tell me all about they don't have a facility," Calhoun said. "We won an NIT and also lost toChristian Laettner in the Final 8. Those two things happend in our first four years playing in the old field house, so i don't believe that."

"I talked to Mr. Hobbs about 10 days ago," said Jim Calhoun. Source of board rumors - "I heard Hobbs is talking to Jim Calhoun?" Also, did Calhoun advise Hobbs to get rid of Eddie Jordan?

Marquis is such a great guy. I can't ever speak highly enough about his attitude, his leadership, his kindness, his play on the floor ... and his inability to dunk. Did we ever tease him about that! Haha. I'd love to bring him back at some point. Such a great guy!

At least Calhoun is reiterating what many on here, including myself, have been saying...facilities are important but not nearly the impediment that so many on here want to make them out to be.

Just coach well...the rest will take care if itself.

We have tremendous challenges. We now have a coach that appears ready to work his *** off. This is critical to ever turning it around.

Calhoun actively involved in our situation is comforting to say the least.
