Pikiell certainly has personality.

This is just a press conference but I really like his personality. Seems like a person that people will enjoy being around.

I honestly thought "personality" was completely missing. I mean, he was being himself, which was good to see to get a good idea about what he's like. But unlike Ash's press conference, I'm not ready to break down the door of the Hale Center just to join a practice or weight lifting session.

A definite contrast in styles. Ash came in with a plan for the press conference, just like he has a very defined plan for everything els

Gotta disagree. This guy has great personality....and he played it just right for this press conference.

Perfect blend of confidence, subtlety, seriousness, and humor. In other words, he came across as real, and really passionate.

I like him 100 times more now...and I think he is going to build something here that will have the RAC rocking, and us knocking off Big Ten teams regularly when they come in to a packed house....much like we had when we were winning the vast majority of our games here and beating the likes of Missouri and UNLV...and Big Et teams like Villanova and Notre Dame when they were top 10 teams.

I do believe Pikiell will get us there after listening to him. Can't wait to see who he hires as his assistants. That will go a long ways in getting us thee quickly.

First off, completely unfair to compare him to Ash, IMHO. They're simply not the same people. Second, after watching, I can't agree with you buddy. Think his "personality" is just different than what you wanted/expected?

I didn't know much about him from a personality standpoint, and I expected a bit more fire from him in the press conference. But that's probably because he's more humble/appreciative than I expected him to be. If "fire" isn't his style in how he presents himself, it's not his style. Better for him to be true to himself and try to light that fire in our kids/recruits in a more understated way than to pretend to be something he's not. I have faith.

I see an inner fire....a deliberate thoughtfulness with an underlying confidence built on competence and purpose.

I liked him a lot. He is appreciative and appropriately humble but also exceedingly confident in his ability to turn this around. He mentioned at least 7 times how confident he is in his ability and that his track record speaks for itself in taking over similarly downtrodden programs. The key for me was I believed everything he said. He won't be lazy and I think he will be a guy that will reach out to the student body, go to the dorms etc...to create excitement among the students. He will be a tireless worker which Eddie was not. He totally believes in his self. Lets hope for the best because you never truly know whats going to happen but call me impressed and much more confident than I was before.

Yep, and I just want to be clear...I liked him a lot after the presser and am happy he's here. Just wanted to point out that it isn't necessarily a bad thing when a coach's personality doesn't meet your initial expectations.
