different argument. that's a fish of a different stripe. Shelby has been refuting the idea that Pike and Knight don't know and can't teach offense, don't know how scheme for open 3s, etc. That's absurd. Of course they know how....but trying to teach those things to this team would be like trying to teach a squirrel to breathe underwater. The offense you see is the most suited style this team is capable of.
It's ugly....because of a stark lack of offensive talent and being a poor defensive team makes things doubly bad. But at least they don't signal for fair catches at every opportunity.
I would flip that.
This team is most suited to the style of offense Pike and Knight want/teach.
It's not a coincidence that we are near last in 3pt attempts every single year.
Just bad luck that the roster Pike and Knight put together turned out to be poor shooters?
If they wanted a better offense, they would recruit and prioritize better/more efficient offensive skills.
They don't, so they don't.
They want 1 on 1 players who need the ball and dont really care if they are good shooters or off ball players.
Nobody expects them to have the funds for Xavian Lee.
But I'm sure their were alternatives available than Buchanan or Derkack or JWill or Acuff (all career sub 32% 3pt shooters before coming here that were supposed to be off-ball wings. JWill kept as off-ball wing next to Dylan last year).
