Had to be a disappointing end to the season and a harbinger of things to come.

Cooley looks like a good coach and did well in NE while UConn was in the AAC but now, Daddy's home.

PC's recruiting is going to slip a bit and UConn is going to go back to it's rightful place and St John's is rising.

I imagine some PC fans will be calling for a new coach but I doubt they will be able to do any better than what they got.

Every 3 or 4 years, they might be relevant or a nuisance to the top teams but PC fans ought not hope for anything more else be disappointed.

I was just browsing the PC board because I had a craving for a nice dose of schadenfreude.

A few members of that board are claiming that Watson and Horchler will both use their free Covid year and return for their fifth year. Duke will likely be back unless he explodes at the NBA combine.

I realize they struggled this year but if things click that is a pretty potent nucleus to start next year.

It is now confirmed that Watson will be returning.

Watson had a good season this past year although PC had a disappointing season overall. Part of that is Duke started out very well and then slumped badly for much of the season and had numerous single digit scoring games. Horchler was a bench piece who scored 6.7 points and 5.7 boards in 21 minutes a game. He hasn't come anywhere near the 16 and 9 he gave UNF as a starter in 2018-19 but I saw some games where he played bigger than his 6'8". To me he is a good banger and nothing more, a poor man's Gerry Besselink. Gerry actually started for UConn and put up 10.3 points and 10.7 boards per game his senior year. You guys didn't see it but I did. I also ate breakfast with Gerry many times and he would eat 4 eggs over easy smothered with a half a bottle of ketchup. I thought it was a Canadian thing at the time. Gerry was one of the genuinely nicest people I met during my time at UConn, and although he played on weak teams he could bang with anyone.

Anyway I don't think PC is more than a middle of the pack Big East team next year with those guys back.

Horchler was much better the last 10 games of the season, had some good games. Once Jimmy Nichols was out for the season due to a car accident Horchler really became a factor. Believe it or not he averaged 41% on three pointers. I think he could be a 10 and 8 guy next year pretty easily if he came back, and which is solid as a 3rd option after Duke and Watson.

Duke really slumped a few games after PC lost their PG, Bynum. He’s much better off the ball with occasional PG duties. In general the PC offense looked stagnant.

I’d say if they return two 2nd Team Big East players along with maybe Horchler they should be an NCAA team.

Horchler is returning to PC. They are going to punch some throats next season.
