Was going to make a joke about a 1 armed man only doing half the work but out of respect to the team and his coaching he deserves anything he wants. Pay the man!

NU's defensive scheme is really remarkable in that it allows the group on the floor to be so much more than the sum of its parts. If Fred and Loesner were doggedly determined to play straight-up man-to-man every game (which many coaching staffs are), I'm not sure this team even makes the tournament.

Credit the players too, though. If they don't fully buy into this defensive system, it won't work.

Hopefully TJ Otzelberger doesn't move up to a job like UNC. I have to think Iowa State would look hard at Loenser if they have an opening.

The powers that be are planning on keeping Loesner around. They need to make him the highest paid assistant coach in college basketball. He is a difference maker and Fred is a lot better coach with Nate on the bench with him. Funny how that works.

Don't worry about finding the money. There's a lot of fat in the football budget that can be trimmed. The money goes to who is producing!

This. After watching this bball season, I'm kind of sick of football. I just sent in my "donation" and season ticket renewal and now I get to look forward to maybe a 6 win season and a bunch of excuses. Give the money to other sports that actually get a return.

“producing”? As in producing money? Leave football produced money alone.

Going to a zone late stopped their run
That was a gamble and it worked. When I say gamble, I don't mean high risk. It was utterly brilliant. Broke their momentum and protected us from further foul trouble and allowed us to catch our breath a little bit. GBR

Bb team should get an increased infusion of revenue this season. No? I would think making sweet 16 has it's rewards from the conference. Keep winning only makes more

Football isn't going to change until its revenue can't carry the rest of the athletic dept and some university expenses. That's the plan: Do what it takes to keep football profitable to a predetermined level. Wins are secondary to this.

Producing what exactly? The money keeps rolling in DESPITE what they are producing!

They've got assistants to the assistants over there and it's still a **** show every time they play a road game. You think it makes a difference if the assistant AD of Strategic Intelligence and his staff stays or goes? Troy could get by with three college kids getting $20/hour using A.I.

That would be funny. Divert money to the basketball team and make Rhule sign the checks.

6 wins might be a stretch
Let's hope this new D coordinator can stop the run

Ben Jacobson from Northern Iowa is taking the Utah State job.

Loenser is a native of Cedar Falls. Unless UNI promotes from within, I have to think they would look at Loenser.

Unfortunately it didn’t look remarkable in a good way in the second half of that Iowa game.

So many people misspelled it in this thread I had to go double check because I thought I was losing my mind.
They still remember watching the Windstrom bros playing with the Peters bros. Back when Nebraska was coached by Tom Osbourne.

Like any D it has its weaknesses. It tries to force you into mistakes with passing lanes and take quick shots. All year, the teams that moved the ball and not just a few passes but several to find the open guy learned what it takes. The D is constantly chasing, doubling and trying capitalize on some cheap buckets. Iowa hardly even turned the ball over, had many real good looks and by the fourth our guys were shot.

Great point. And Iowa did a nice job exploiting those weaknesses. It helps having a taller point guard who can hit the three, can drive at will and sees the court as well as Stirtz does. I like what Nebraska does defensively. I would actually like to see them play a little more 1-3-1 in certain situations because it compliments what we normally do and we could get better at avoiding mistakes-- like allowing that simple pass and 3 point shot at the end of the half against Iowa.

Another thing that Iowa did after they fell behind is that they put in more of their young shooters. Fortunately for them, those kids hit almost every shot they took and we failed to exploit those kids by attacking them on offense.

If he wants to be a head coach a bump in salary won’t do anything to stop that.

Should NU do everything on God's green earth to get Nate Loesner to look past any possible HC openings to stay at NU
It depends on how bad he wants to be a HC . If he is on the fence bump his salary to make him jump back into the Husker yard. If he truly wants to be a HC not sure you can do anything about it ,
