I don't think he's got it out for us more than any other team although he and Mike Riley are good friends. Wisconsin is a stable program that has kept it's identity through several coaching changes because of Alvarez's influence. Chryst is just a solid guy with a milk toast personality who has been able to identify and develop feature backs to plug in to their primarily pro-style offense. Wisconsin ran in to a head coach who had no problem scheming for their offense when they played Lovie.Seems too have it in for Nebraska. Any idea why? He's had his way with us.
Well Alvarez no doubt brought NU's system, but Tom changed his offense tremendously from what Alvarez used and Wisconsin still uses. Likewise Wisconsin changed their D tremendously by going to the 3-4. They did struggle mightily when they first switched to the 3-4. The key for Wisconsin has been the stability of organizational system that Alvarez has brought to them more so than their offensive style IMO. Alvarez demanded that they keep a similar offensive philosophy to help avoid those lost recruiting classes. Even through the one coaching debacle they had, they were stable and brought home Chryst. The flip side of that is that though they've been routinely good, they've never been great. Not so much Chryst as the system Alvarez brought with him from Neb. I don't think it matters what coach was or wasn't at Wisc the results would be the same.
We fired his buddy Mike Riley.Seems too have it in for Nebraska. Any idea why? He's had his way with us.
Tom Osborne? Mike Riley fo sho.Paul Chryst is the only College Football Coach I've ever observed who's personality is more suited for being a Corporate Accountant instead of a football coach.

Grover Dill WinkingHe probably just laughs at how arrogant our fan base is. We are that little bully sidekick in A Christmas Story.
What did he do/say recently to make you say this? Wouldn't surprise me.Seems too have it in for Nebraska. Any idea why? He's had his way with us.
So I take it you would rather have Mike Riley as your head coach than Chryst then? Well alrighty then...No... Tom Osborne was always coherent in an interview. Mike Riley was at least charming.
Chryst is neither.

Interesting. He just follows the blueprint someone else left and that's all he needs to do? Sorry, can't buy it. He is a better coach than some give him credit for. I wouldn't use the word "great" for him but you also can't simply credit it all to Barry. There is a formula that works, there was one at Nebraska and Frost is attempting to replicate it. Chryst has won a lot of games and right now they own us and we have to admit it. I don't see that changing anytime soon but if it makes everyone feel better, just keep putting down a very successful program. Last I looked, ours was no where close to theirs.
That ecplains their baseball caps logoIsn't Chrysts sister married to Omaha Westside baseball coach Bob Greco? So he must like our state a little bit.
Barry was basically a .500 coach in conf play at WisconsinHe's essentially Barry Alvarez's little child. Hand picked to take over a system that BA put in place back in the 90's.
Paul Chryst has some arrogance to him since their system takes crap teams to the woodshed and when he goes up against big-name brands his insecurities show up. The GIF's are out there to show it.
Paul Chryst is NOT a great coach.
He has struggles speaking.
Once Barry Alvarez retires their program will fade since the Barry Alvarez influence will be gone. Barry does not allow for anything to deviate from what he built. It's the reason why Gary Anderson was almost fired.
Barry turns 73 in Dec. so he isn't going to be there much longer.
Maybe because someone from Nebraska told him: “...fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life...”?Seems too have it in for Nebraska. Any idea why? He's had his way with us.
Yes, Chryst is simply a "Yes Man" following Barry's vision.
But what if the husband makes millions of dollars per year?Kind of guy whose Wife is tired of doing his **** stain laundry.
So simple then, anyone can do it. Right?
Amazing.
IDK, I dont make millions a year and my Wife hasnt left me yet.But what if the husband makes millions of dollars per year?

Crazy thing about that game - Wisky had 40:00 in time of possession and a huge advantage in yards. Illinois never got inside of the red zone - scored on big plays, and just like they did against us, they got a bunch of turnovers & won the game. This, and also Wisconsin must have simply emotionally didn't show up to play with energy nor good focused schemes for Illinois.

It's absolutely true. Alvarez runs that program, not the head coach. This is exactly what Eichorst was trying to do here as well. He was running the program, not Mike Riley. If you don't remember, Eichorst came from Wisconsin as an Alvarez protege.Interesting. He just follows the blueprint someone else left and that's all he needs to do? Sorry, can't buy it. no. In my neighborhood it is exactly milk toast. Soggy bland pretty much tasteless breakfast option when there's nothing else in the kitchen. But milquetoast works too.Are you trying to say milquetoast?

there are those that believe that, but it's pretty tin foil.. Eichorst had wanted to hire Mike Riley before he was even at Nebraska, so this idea it was some sort of act of sabotage doesn't really fly.. at least not to me.Uh, no. Alvarez saw what a nincompoop Eichorst was and realized he was the perfect Trojan Horse to unload on Perlman. Chryst was a willing accomplice by suggesting Riley to Eichorst. Why anyone in a leadership role at NU thought taking advice from a conference rival would be in NU's best interest still baffles me.

Also, Frost is not attempting to replicate the formula that worked for Nebraska. We are running a completely different type of scheme that values # of offensive attempts and speed over everything else. The formula that worked previously was one of ball control & time of possession. Completely opposite approaches.
