How about you just ignore it yourself?
Gee, I hadn't thought of that, but since there was no indication it was a political post in the subject, I didn't know to. How about putting me on ignore?

It said clearly - "On the Charlie Kirk killing"

It wasn't even about politics. It was about what a disaster society is and how full of hate everyone is. If you watched it and didn't take anything good from it, then I feel really bad for you. We're living in some really depressing times.

This place needs an "ignore thread" feature
If you don’t like what someone says, click out of the thread. Otherwise, this is America and this is a sports message board where folks get to express opinions.
No one has to sit and read a thread you don’t like. Simple concept.
Plus, if you don’t like certain posters, put them on “ignore”.

I disagreed (strongly in many cases) with most of Charlie Kirk’s positions and I certainly did not see him as a unifying force in this country. Yes, I realize that I’m likely in the minority around here.

However, any decent human being should be absolutely mortified by what happened yesterday. My heart hurts for his family and loved ones, just as it does for anyone who is a victim of violence. It’s awful. And I appreciate Pat’s comments.

My stomach dropped to the floor after watching the full clip of him getting shot on social media. Such a horrific way to go, doesn’t matter who you are. Talk about absolutely traumatizing for those seeing it happen at the event… I wouldn’t be the same if I was front row.

I’m not usually one for censorship but they need to remove the video from social media pages and anywhere… his kids (one and three years old) don’t need to grow up and see that one day on social media.

It’s a sad and scary world we live in.

Yep, on social media we are seeing everything and feeling nothing as a society. Not a good trajectory

I can’t imagine your rationale for pissing on the original post, or the content - Pat’s take.

Not only was it apolitical - it was a reflection of a man that tries to be as human and relatable in delivering sports takes and a departure from the hate that permeates our world.

Great take by Pat and am glad he expressed it - and thanks to OP for sharing.

Good points, Solid. Assassinating a guy for expressing opinions you don’t like. We’ve got some really, really sick fvcks in this country. Not assassinating people you disagree with is not a Republican thing. It’s a decent human being thing.

So it turns out the guy was a terminally online nut job.

The bullet casing writings were all from online memes. Two referenced a video game. One just said " if you read this you are gay."

Understanding what all this means requires you to understand the language the terminally online use. Someone wrote a good article on it entitled "Charlie Kirk was killed by a meme."

------

So what have we all learned when we instantly assumed a motive, rationale, etc?

That's right, class, we should wait for the information to all come out before we try to make sense of things.

SMDH. For the most part this thread was going pretty good until you posted that article.

Good attempt by Pat though.

There will be a trial. The facts are going to come out. Lots of people will watch.

Curious to know, what about it offended you?

It looks like just about everyone got this wrong. I assumed it was going to be a left wing radical, too. I didn't offer an opinion until I got to see actual evidence released, but I made the same assumption everyone else did.

Known right wing provocateur gunned down assassination style in a public place. I get the arrival at the assumption. And then the later commentary about political violence by folks like Pat.

But maybe that's not what it was. It's starting to look that way. And you might be right, too, maybe they'll uncover something new.

It didn't offend me. The Article is wrong and anyone who watch the press conference by the Governor today knows what's going on. There's plenty of other information about it on the off topic board.

The facts will come out during the trial. The FBI went through his house today collecting more evidence. It's not worth attempting to defend and Kirk was hardly right wing. That's part of the problem right there. He was willing to have a Civil Debate. We are headed to a place where the left will wish he was still here if things don't change.

Happy to continue the discussion on the Off Topic Board.

The killing was abhorrent and completely inexcusable, very sad and this is coming from a lib

Idk where this country is going and it makes me extremely disappointed

Give it a listen.

Then I would encourage people to read about Bolsheviks and Mensheviks.

Once people understand the difference between the two groups. Understand you are dealing with Leon Trotsky types.
