Justin Parrish will not be returning as the Head Basketball Coach at Salem High School in Virginia Beach for the 2016-17 campaign, VirginiaPreps.com has confirmed.
Parrish, who declined to comment on why he won't be back, went 61-78 in his six seasons at the helm of the Sun Devils. They finished 12-11 overall this past season with an 8-6 mark in conference play. Their season ended in a 52-44 loss to Green Run in the Atlantic Conference 9 Tournament semifinals.
When appointed as the school's Head Coach in 2010-11, Parrish had a tough act to follow filling the shoes of Bill Cochrane. In 38 seasons as a Head Coach, 21 at Salem, Cochrane won 19 district titles, two regional crowns and a State Championship in 2001.
Four of the Sun Devils' starters this past season - guard Jonathan Norfleet, center Brandon Mitchell, forward Trevon 'T.J.' Taylor and guard Ray Ward - were underclassmen.
