...is there another team in the nation which has missed more layups, and dunks, than Rutgers-New Brunswick? This is a a very serious question based on watching, probably, 75-80% of our (watchable - either home or on TV) games during this time span. It's simply amazes me how often we miss both (and we're talking ones that D1 college basketball players shouldn't miss....).

*** I don't mean this as a slight to anyone on these boards who played, during this era, just discussing a sad fact.

Less talented players miss layup. This is not bad luck

Who said anything about "bad luck"? Also I've seen plenty of teams - PLENTY - with less "recruited talent" not have the problems with layups that we have had over the years. I'm talking underneath, drives, and 2-on-1 fast breaks, all the same.

The fast break thing has always bothered me. This team, no matter the year, always seems to have trouble converting in 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 situations on the break.

What I don't get is that a majority of these players don't look like they know their own strengths in their game. They don't looked the get THEIR shot. And then, they don't know where their teammates like to get the ball and score.

I mean on my men's league team I know where I need to be on the court to be productive when I get the ball. And I know where all of my teammates need to get the ball to be productive. I know how to make a pass to allow another teammate to make the next pass and get another guy a good look. I know how to move off the ball to clear space for a shooter, or give a big space on the block, etc.

Basic basketball stuff we just never seem to do. Maybe it's lack of continuity. Or maybe it's recruiting - just trying to get athletic guys to stay close in the rat race but at the expense of getting guys who read the game well.

The school has become a win at all cost football only culture. Once respectable and good in many sports was changed to monetary expectations from football. No balance so this should not be unexpected result.

Do you have any eligibility left? I believe we are looking to fill schollies. If, so go To the RAC, cause Eddie may not be out recruiting.

Thanks for adding nothing to the conversation.

You are absolutely right. The amount of missed layups this year cost us the Indiana and Nebraska home games. We missed 3 dunks yesterday. All and one opportunities that could have been 9 points and ended up with 4 points as Jon missed one and Bishoo missed one foul shot.

The Nebraska game? You mean the game we lost by 34 and set the record for worst home loss in 50 years until the game that came right after that?

Sorry meant the road game or could have been the Ohio State game. Probably was the Ohio State home game the more I recall. Thanks for the insight!!

Have to agree with ruman here. Good players make shots, bad ones miss shots.

The two dunks that Daniels missed yesterday should never have been even attempted ...lay the ball up

but, if you are gojng to dunk there..from the wing, you don't pull to the front of the rim unless your name is shaq. He gave away the fraction of the second by not slamming from the side and that's why they weren't finished

100%. 4 points that were wasted.
