As many know by now, Samford will start a lefty against us tomorrow. If we were to play Campbell on Saturday, we'd likely also see a lefty then. Given our reputation for struggling against lefties, I was curious how deep our struggles actually went. As it turns out, we have faced a surprisingly low number of lefty starters this year. In 32 games against SEC teams, we only faced a lefty starter 6 times. We went 2-4 in those games, and the lone wins were against bottom feeders Auburn and Texas A&M.
Granted, not saying the pitching we will see this weekend is SEC caliber, it's probably not close to the likes of Doug Nikhazy or Hunter Barco. But it may be something to monitor. We don't have a ton of experience against lefties and we may be about to see a heavy dose of them the next couple of days.
