im a wvu grad, but reside in political hell in NJ. I'm curious as to how Joe Manchin is looked at in state? Do you feel he wins again? Do you feel that his stance on letting coal die a slow death over obamas tenure?? The polls show WV a heavy lean. Does he win in 18'.

Manchin, in my opinion, is quickly becoming a nationally recognized political figure. He is not afraid to get in front of the cameras and mix it up in the Senate. We have a politician who can get his peers attention and I feel is a respected cohort among his constituents. JMO

He will definitely be in a battle. He stood up and clapped last night to appeal to WV voters. He appeared on Fox this morning and talked about how Democrats disrespected the President and office of President. He’s trying to appeal to voters. It would not surprise me if he switches parties before November.

He will win. Jenkins is the more polished candidate but this state will elect Morrisey who comes across as a disheveled looking raccoon. Manchin will beat him. Would be in a very tight race with Jenkins

Joe Manchin is looked at in state?
He's the only person in West Virginia (outside of the fat bastard governor) who can win as a Democrat in WV.
Do you feel he wins again?
Yes. Jenkins has the charisma of a turkey sandwich and Morrisey's connections to big pharma (and Planned Parenthood) are even worse than Manchin's. He's also a NJ carpetbagger.
Do you feel that his stance on letting coal die a slow death over obamas tenure??
Manchin has nothing to do with coal dying. Coal is dying because there are other cheaper forms of energy like natural gas being used. This is the market at work.
The polls show WV a heavy lean. Does he win in 18'.
Yes by 3-5 points.

I believe that Joe made a big mistake by voting against the tax bill.
It will give 70-80% of all West Virginians a considerable tax cut. He's dancing around that vote, but a solid campaign against him could
bring his defeat. Right now odds are he'll win, but I suggest that could change by November. Labor is not happy with him. Also, you should note that two years ago a Manchin got beat for House of Delegates in Marion County and another won lost a County Commission race in Harrison.

lmao no it ******* won't.

You're seriously overestimating how popular the tax bill is among low-mid income earners. People also won't be jazzed about voting someone in who'll cut Medicaid.
Also, you should note that two years ago a Manchin got beat for House of Delegates in Marion County and another won lost a County Commission race in Harrison.
*A* Manchin lost, not *the* Manchin. He's the only one who matters.

Jenkins should have the GOP ticket locked up but between him and Manchin I would rather Virginia take us back.

With low voter turnout, yes this is probably accurate. If the leftists wake the hell up and vote in November and 2020, at least one House district could go blue and the Senate remain purple. People think WV is as red as Alabama when it is as red as any other state when 10-15% are all that vote. Sure a lot of the old school Dems jumped to the GOP where they belong but there is enough of a grassroots movement that could surprise people. It will only matter if they get their asses to the polls.

I am speaking as an optimist here and still expecting that I'll probably need to burn my house for insurance money and leave the state by 2020 to avoid the impending economic collapse ushered by the Boomers dying off with no population to replace them.

No **** he's not afraid to step in front of a camera, like in 2009 when he walked into a flood-damaged Gilbert High School gymnasium to interrupt their graduation ceremony to give a short speech then abruptly leave after said speech was over. If a camera isn't involved you won't see Manchin around.

I would love nothing more than to see him primaried but no one will manage the clout to do that AND be able to win the general. Swearingin (sp?) is the only candidate I'm aware of so far on that side and Huggs has a better chance of getting us a national title this season than she does even coming close to beating him in the primary.

And I'm not touching that tax plan because I'm due to renew my yearly subscription soon and V needs me for baseball season. He doesn't want a reason to ban me until at least summer.

80% of West Virginians will get a considerable tax break? That's fake news.

If a household makes $25,000 they get a $50 savings

If a household makes $50,000, they get a $330 savings.

If a household makes $75,000 they get a $850 savings

If a household makes $150,000 they get a $1,340 savings

If a household makes $3.6 million they get an $85,000 savings.

There isn’t a state in the country that will see that kind of benefit. WV definitely won’t, as it only has around 50% employment to population. The new tax laws might make a noticeable difference for 35% of our state, and that’s calling $50 per month “noticeable.”

The median income in Wes Virginia is $39,170.00. That will get wvians a whopping $330.00 tax break.

If a Household makes $25000 they don't pay anything in taxes so $50 is $50. Don't be the Fake News. Under Obama taxes increased every year (over the last 5 years). End of story.

End of story, lol, why even argue with ya'll, Trump taking care of the little guy, that's why our cuts are permanent, oh wait, my bad. Once the taxes decrease then they get to say they can't pay for Medicare and SS, yay, winning.

What "taxes" do you speak of? If my taxes went up, I couldn't tell. Trump's tax cuts primarily benefit the rich and corporations but watch for your trickle down!

The tiny tax cuts expire for us in 7 years. The massive cuts for corporations is permanent

Hahahaha. The guy who says don’t be the fake news is the fake news. Taxes under Obama didn’t increase every year for the last five years.
