Gonna be spending a couple days each in Forest and Vicksburg for work. Any recommendations on good food?

Good luck in Forest. Slim pickings there. Penns is decent. The Chinese place on 35 , Zhengs Palace isnt too bad. No real good restaurants that I know of.

Garden Patch in Forest. Only open for lunch. Country style Buffett. Best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Everything is good. Quite a few veggie options, etc, for sides. Get Hurricane cake for dessert.... thank me later.

Also, Kris Seafood and Young Tasty Place (delicious burgers, ribs, etc)...neither of those have much seating options but if weather is nice just sit on the picnic tables at Young’s or sit in your vehicle and eat. Very good burgers.

Not much luck for you at night time in Forest other than Penn’s, Mexican, and fast food.

The Anthony at Vicksburg CC is very good and open to the public. Ms Barbecue Company is good, and a classic, old school steakhouse is The Beechwood

Vicksburg:

10 South on the roof for a view, food is pretty good.

Rusty's has pretty good food, but there is usually a wait and it's loud inside when full.

Cottonwood Public House has Vicksburg brewed craft beer and some local breweries too. Pizza is the main fare there and is pretty decent.

There's also Mississippi BBQ Company. Nice place and food is pretty good too.

Beechwood has a good steak.

If you can stand cig smoke, the Klondyke is worth visiting. Damn good burger.

Martin's at Midtown has craft beer and a good menu. It's a neighborhood type bar.

The Anthony, walnut hills, and Toneys seafood grill are good choices too.

The Penns in Forest is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to (and I've spent a good bit of time in Mexico, Asia and the Middle East).

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll be visiting these towns a few times this year so this will definitely help.

It’s just “Forest” with one R. And there isn’t a Ward’s but there is a Sonic. And a Wal-Marts. And Penn’s (which used to be great; not sure about now).
NWAdawg better like Sonic food.

As stated previously on here, not many great options in Forest. However, if you happen to be there on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night and are looking for a good steak, you are a 10-20 minute ride to two really good (and maybe lesser known) steakhouses: Zack Garvin’s in Newton is really, really good (try the Lafayette ribeye, it’s topped with crawfish ettoufee) and Lee’s Steakhouse in Sebastopol is a good mom&pop style steakhouse with really good steaks.

The Anthony just closed that location. They are Downtown at the bb club(close to 10 south)and only serving lunch now is my understanding.

If you are in the 61 south area, you can try the tomato place. It’s pretty unique and has sandwiches and burgers. The squealing pig has great bbq. It’s a while in the wall kid of place.
