Anyone had any experience with any of the higher-end underwear brands (e.g. Tommy John)? I'm looking at going beyond the 3 pack of Hanes or whatever they have at Costco when I go, but if I'm going to drop $20+ a pair I want to make sure I'm getting something comfortable and durable. For what it's worth, I'm a boxer briefs guy and that ain't changing.

Saxx pro elites. They carry different lines, but the pro elites are where it's at. Freaking fantastic.

Is this thread about athletic/running bananna hammocks or just everyday twig & berries comfort?

American Eagle boxers are the only underwear that need to exist. They are the acme of underwear creation, the Platonic form of nether region comfort of which all others are a pale shadow.

Go to TJ Maxx or Ross to buy some of those brands to try them out for cheaper.

Good lord. Is this NAFOOM? Go to walmarts and get the cheapest thing on the shelf, and put them on. There are certain things you don't waste money on. That only you or your spouse sees. You know...shampoo, soap, underwear.

Disagree. They make smart fabric underwear that stays cool. Cool balls in the Summer is worth the extra scratch.

careful if switching to non-cottons and a khaki wearer - a little drip can turn into an apparent gusher. i switched back to cottons because i learned to hard way. if you're backpacking europe take two pairs of the techs otherwise stick with the walmart upper end hanes.

Don't matter how smart the fabric is, when tracks appear it's time to throw them away. Only reason to spend extra is maybe scotch guard.

I usually just use Under Armour.

the main thing I hate about most "high end" boxer briefs is they're all cutting out the "flaps" you can stick your damn dick through to take a piss. who the hell wants to pull down their pants every time they have to take a leak?

i think they are all just cost shaving and its annoying as hell.

I have my own horror story with "Under Armor zero pee access" after a beer league softball tournament we won about a decade ago. Our sponsor was a bar. The proprietor was very kind to us that night to the tune of free Natty Light (I think, or some other cheap watered down domestic swill) draft. I didn't let the good gentleman down. I even won some money at the dartboard. Well, at some point in the middle of the night when I woke up to pee I forget I'm wearing those damn things & can't for the life of me figure out the non-existent fly. I'm not entirely sure what happened next, but my girlfriend asked me the next morning why the entire vanity was wet? I can only surmise that I was so frantic that when I finally pulled the bastards down I was standing in front of the sink rather than the toilet & so overcome with relief I just let fly.

I am not proud of this moment. Yet, 17 UA boxers, none-the-less.

Obviously you aren't a chafer or a sweater. My job causes me to walk around a lot, so regular cotton does not do the trick.

As far as reccomendations, I like the Adidas dri-fit more than the Under Armour. The Adidas has all of the seams on the outside so it reduces any rubbing.

Totally with you. I wore the expensive UA ones for years. Yes, they were totally worth the money to me, and they brought me much more enjoyment than a $300 cooler.

But, at some point, I had to start wearing khakis on occasion, and it required complete control of your plumbing. I didn't have that. Throw in the occasional case of the nervous swamp ***, and you've got a disaster waiting to happen.

No. If this were NAFOOM, there would be pictures.

I'm a full believer in Tommy John's cool cotton trunks. Will you pay more yes, but the comfort is absolutely worth it to me.
