CSU, with a smaller less athletic team defended and rebounded vs MD much better than we did … RU was shredded. I hope Pike was taking notes.

Thought same thing about Colorado state playing their tails off on defense. Pike left Maryland wide open on 3’s when they killed us.

On another note, Queen is an absolute stud and difference maker. Instead we got Ace who looks like he just got out of middle school. May be great one day but nowhere close to a difference maker as a frosh. Frustrating

So, replace Ace with Queen. Think RU is dancing?

Ace had some struggles this year but to say he was not a positive difference maker for our team is crazy. Most of the rest of the roster was the problem, but not Ace and Dylan. https://www.barttorvik.com/playerst...ear=2025&minmin=0&start=20241101&end=20250501

For most of the years I've been watching basketball that was absolutely a travel. But not in today's game, where rules have been changed, bent and ignored in the name of SCORING.

All sports have been engineered in the "Money Era" to make them more entertaining to Joe Sixpack, who loves slam dunks, home runs and long bombs. I thought sports were better before this happened, but nobody asked me. And forget about comparing today's players to those from even a decade ago. They're playing a different game...

Great angle here. Was closer to gather than I thought. Though his foot still in air and ball is up in pocket with his last dribble.

In my view, opinions will largely shake out by age. Geezers like me can't process all the "gather/pocket" and "Eurostep" stuff (and many other things). But that's not the way the game is called anymore. Us old guys need to go back to shouting at clouds...

over the course of this year I have seen more NON calls of "3" step walking than 3 step walking calls.
Seems walking calls are now mostly "ball handling" calls and not "shooting" calls
The game is changing...

I don’t think it was a travel 2 steps to the basket. He just has large steps which gives the appearance of 3 steps
No worse than what happens multiple times in today's game, particularly when guys are driving the lane thru traffic. Not gonna change course and call it there.

On another note - it was unbelievable they didn't call Clifford (#10) for hooking his defender and basically throw him to the ground.

I also think Queen was fouled on his shot, but the refs swallowed the whistles there too.
Refs let them play all game which favored CSU imo. Huge contrast to the St John's game where every shot in the paint was a foul. Even the coaches had 4 fouls in that game.

MD deserved a break after their last 4 losses came at the buzzer.

Ha ha, during that last timeout I was cataloguing all of the losses this year (not all were buzzer beaters, but all were close as hell). I was thinking it was fitting for the season to end with another long dagger three.

By the way, I wasn't watching, I had it on ESPN gamecast, as I usually do, and was viewing the game comments in the TKR thread. All I saw was the number under UMD change from "70" to "72". I'm a feeble fan...

“Not even close to a travel”. Some of you will say anything.

anyone saying that was a travel hasn't been watching basketball for the last two seasons. that gather step is done 20x a game.

i didn't even consider it was a travel watching it live until i got on social media...

Gotta say, the thought he traveled never crossed my mind in real time. Queen definitely benefits from the modern way the game is managed by refs. He euro-steps a lot.

I've always been amazed at how players know what spot to aim for on the backboard, depending on where they are and how they are moving (and probably other things). Also, LOL at Julian Reese tripping and sprawling during the celebration. I'm sure he was the first to laugh about it...
