Unless you are a real audiophile, I'd imagine you'll be happy with this one.

Can't go wrong with the Sonos

I started with the Arc Soundbar last year from Costco. It alone fills up a pretty large room.

I've since added 2 of the Sonos One Speakers and the sub. The whole house thumps, and it sounds great.

Recently added the Roam. Nice to play the same music in the house then take it to the yard.

Super easy to use and set up too.

My Zvox crapped the bed last month and I've been looking at the Sonos Beam also. They recently released the Beam gen 2 that some YouTube channels are comparing it to the Sonos Arc rather than the gen 1 beam. It may be worth looking at but I want to hear one in person first.

I'm holding out till after the first of the year when most home theater stuff goes on sale before the super bowl.

Probably a dumb question but what's the point of a soundbar? I've never had an issue with just using the normal speakers in my TV but maybe I'm missing something.

honestly, I thought the same UNTIL i got one... There is a power, depth and volume that the TV just can't get close to... (I just have a $300 Samsung one)

With today's thinner TVs, sound quality has suffered. With my new one, I found exactly one sound setting that was even acceptable (and that's all it is, acceptable). And I bought one of the more expensive, highest rated TVs on the market. I didn't buy a sound bar, but almost had to.

It's a combination of a couple of things. One, I'd like better, clearer sound. Two, we've totally run out of things to get for Christmas so I thought that a soundbar might be a good addition.

^^this

I have a Samsung in my playroom and a 5.1 in ceiling speakers and 2 more bookshelf speakers in family room. They both work great. You can really tell the difference on movies and sports.

I’m getting older and my hearing is no what it once was. I’m pretty sure firing 155MM howitzers for a number of years without the recommended hearing protection didn’t help-along with listening to music at louder-than-normal volumes for many years. I have found that I have problems hearing dialogue on my TV at lower volumes with these new flat screen TV’s. The problem is that the speakers on most of these new TV’s is directed at the floor instead of toward the viewer. Adding a sound bar has allowed me to hear the dialogue very clearly without having to increase the volume. I have a Klipsch surround sound in my den with 7 speakers and a subwoofer that is fantastic if people are over watching a football game, movie etc.-but late at night when I’m watching alone the sound bar allows me to hear the words clearly at a lower volume without disturbing those in the house who may be sleeping.

Exactly my brother. I wonder what sound engineer genius designed speakers that point down and back.

Any recommendations for a single system (no satellite speakers, no separate sub)?

Did about 10 minutes of internet research and Costco has what appears to be a pretty nice Sonos for around $400. And experience with that one? https://www.costco.com/sonos-beam-shadow-edition.product.100513510.html

how timely. I just went all in on the Samsung Q950A last night.

If I were going to get one at Costco right now it would be this one. https://www.costco.com/klipsch-cine...-surround-sound-system.product.100779231.html
apparently identical to the 800 elsewhere for quite a Bit less. I might eventually get this one for our living room.

you’re actually missing a lot. Even a $150 Vizio with a sub is a tremendous improvement. Hard to get decent sound from the very thin screens.

if you’re going to drop major cash on a television, it’s almost criminal not to buy some kind of audio with it.

As others have said you really can't go wrong with Sonos. The nice part about Sonos is they are modular, meaning over time you can add as many or few components as you like. If you use the Beam for awhile and decide you want a sub, get one. If you want to add satellite speakers to other parts of the house you can do so. I think you'll be happy with it.

Another reason I like my soundbar: bluetooth. It's really easy to shoot songs from iTunes to the speaker whenever I want.

The thing paid for itself the first State game when I was able to enjoy the dulcet tones of Neil Price instead of Beth Mowins yammering from my TV.
