With football season right around the corner, I want to put a TV on our covered back patio. Our initial thought was to get an outdoor TV, until we realized how expensive they were. Now we are thinking about mounting an indoor TV to the brick wall and building a cabinet around it. Any thoughts or tips?
As long as your TV is out of the rain/moisture, you should be fine with a regular LCD/LED type flat-screen. There is no need to spend all the extra $$ for an outdoor TV if it's going to be mounted under a porch anyway.
We had a special power and cable outlet ran near the top corner of our porch. I used an older 32" LCD TV we had in a spare bedroom and got a mount like
this from Home Depot. I got a 3/8" masonry bit and after leveling/marking my holes, went to work on drilling directly into the bricks, not the mortar. This was the toughest part. But I got it hung in the corner and got
this cover off of Amazon. As long as it's under a cover it shouldn't matter what type of TV you have out there.
