Think Johnnie Bryant is the most likely hire.I think Hurley this time leaves UConn for the NBA unlike last year.
Thibs was the opposite of Pike whose problem was not being able to settle on a rotation playing 11 deep into the season.Thibs not using the bench and Mitchell Robinson until it was way too late, cemented this firing. It's 2025 and playing 7 players is not a path to play close to 100 games and be successful enough to win through May and into June.
I agree with you, but they said on the radio this morning that Malone was not happening. If they are going to go this route, they better have a good guy lined up. While Thibs definitely has his flaws he's damn good. I had hope maybe this last series cemented to him that he needs to use whatever bench he has better.People are thinking Hurley but I’m thinking they have an agreement with Malone in place. I can’t see them firing Thibbs without an almost fool-proof replacement plan in the works. Thibbs had his faults, but he certainly was successful in NY.
That's a gutsy move to get rid of a good, established coach of a winning team for. I get lot's of people seem to think he'll be good.Think Johnnie Bryant is the most likely hire.
Sounds very reasonable deal with Malone was there , making Thibbs expendable and any search to replace him just for showPeople are thinking Hurley but I’m thinking they have an agreement with Malone in place. Well, you can only be different for a limited time in NY.Just 18 months ago it was "we're not taking shortcuts and we're building the Young Knicks" with RJ Barret, Quickley and Grimes.
Going to get Zion to reunite the Duke 3 (with Cam Reddish).
Then traded them all away (along with nearly all their draft picks) for KAT, OG and Bridges.
Now they are firing their HC and maybe trying to trade for Durant or Giannis (chasing star players from other teams).
So much for the Knicks being "different".
Malone and Thibs are very similar coaches, it would be weird to fire him and replace him with an almost identical coach who was just fired for many of the same reasons.Sounds very reasonable deal with Malone was there , making Thibbs expendable and any search to replace him just for show

Agree with you, although I’m not the biggest KAT fan. His defense might even be worse than advertised, but can put up huge numbers. No problem with this trade to and I’d pull the trigger again.Counter point:
RJ Barrett sucks. IQ was a solid player but he wasn’t going to be satisfied with a bench role much longer and became expendable with the emergence of McBride.
None of their young guys were traded for KAT. That trade was Randle and Donte. While I think Hartenstein leaving for OKC kind of forced their hand here, Randle was going to want more than the Knicks were willing to give him after this season, so they moved him instead of letting him walk for nothing. Based on Donte’s performance this past season, I think the Knicks sold high on him.
As for the Durant/Giannis bit, none of that is real, it’s just twitter garbage.

I’m less worried about age. The oldest of the bunch is Hart who is 30. KAT is 29, Brunson and Bridges are 28, OG is 27.Agree with you, although I’m not the biggest KAT fan. The monumental mistake was 5 first round picks for Bridges. One of the worst trades they’ve ever made.
The organization is now crippled with an aging team that’s not quite good enough and almost no tradeable assets without drastically changing the team

Agree. Kept hearing all postseason and down the stretch of the regular season that needed to use the bench more. Knicks allocated the majority of their money to the starting line-up and the bench was thin as a result. He had no depth to go to
Don't mind him. He's just a Nets fan who's tossing insults at Knicks fans because he's likely bitter that they failed in the tank job this season by only ending up with Pick #8.

It's the NBA, these guys can play, if you give them time during the season and develop their roles. Wright looked good when he was in, shamet has been a solid player for years, they were playing cam Payne before those guys. Every time cam Payne shoots I wonder how hes still in the league. You have to develop the bench throughout the season. Pacers' Thomas Bryant and Sheppard etc aren't that good but they know their role and go out there and execute what they're expected to execute.. they all have roles, same with the Thunder, next year we will see more teams develop strategies to utilize their entire roster.Knicks only have 7 good players.
He either couldn’t miss or he was going like 0-7.Payne was hilarious
If there was a stat for minutes played vs touches vs shot attempts his ratio would lead league
Listen it's a players' league and after 5 yrs Thibs got pushed out ( very few coaches last 5 yrs these days). I'm pretty sure Bridges had a lot to do with this because he wasn't getting much run in the Indiana series. So if the player you give up 5 first round picks for isn't happy, then the coach is in trouble. He is the scape goat for the embarrassing first game loss to Indiana that decided the playoff matchup. The Knicks won 51 games and defeated Detroit and the Boston Celtics. in play off matchups. The roster lacked players that could defend and make 3 pointers which is a general manager responsibility.
Both coaches failed in running a half court offense with player and ball movement. They ran iso basketball with Brunson and Harper and lacked 3 point scoring from the corners.Thibs was the opposite of Pike whose problem was not being able to settle on a rotation playing 11 deep into the season.
