Missed 24 straight field goal attempts to close out their game last night versus UConn. Needless to say, they lost.

They went the last 17 minutes of that game without a field goal. Their only points came from the free throw line. It was simply stunning. And this is a good St. John's team. They had won 13 in a row and were 15th in the country going in. UConn played really good defense, but St. John's just looked super tight. It was a total mental collapse. Very strange game.

As a UTEP fan, it reminds me of the time that Tim Hardaway set an NBA record in a game in 1991 by going 0-for-17 in shooting that game (a game his team still won). When asked about it later (I'm paraphrasing), he said when he joined the NBA that he set out to set all the records, and this was a start.

Edit: Here's the exact quote:
https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-12-28-sp-1040-story.html

“I’m going to frame this box score,” Hardaway said with a laugh. “I had to get an NBA record somehow. I was never 0-for at any level. What can I say?”

St Johns is probably going to win the Big East despite the UConn slam because of the weird tiebreaker rule where they punish you for losing to a higher ranked team. UConn's other loss is actually better than St. John's other loss, so therefore, St. Johns gets the tiebreaker. How stupid.
